Mid Atlantic Pick 4

Monmouth Park R5|Post Time: 3:49 pm ET

Turf 1 1/16 Miles|3↑ Fillies and Mares | OC 15k/N1X|Purse: $72K

4-Kitten’s Collusion (2/1), 5-Persipicacious (5/2), and 6-Postino’s Idol (6/1) all exited the $87K Jersey Girl Handicap where every horse who has raced, took a hit the next race. Kitten’s Collusion and Postino’s Idol have not raced since, so I will fade these two. 1-Rob The Treasure (10/1) is second off the eleven month layoff and has a $10K per start average on turf – by far the best here.

1, 5

Colonial Downs R7|Post Time: 4:33 pm ET

Turf 5.5 Furlongs|3↑ Fillies and Mares | Clm 10000 N2L|Purse: $28K

7-Elusive Uncaptured (5/1) is a Kathleen O’Connell trained filly by Uncaptured and ships in from Gulfstream where she has raced against much tougher. I am liking the one turn cutback after her last two speed efforts and fading off. 9-Tak E Lady (8/1) is on her third race at Colonial off a nine month layoff. She too is a speed horse who is cutting back from a mile to 5.5 furlongs. 8-Tea In China (5/2) set the pace last out at one mile and faded off in the stretch to sixth place, losing by five lengths. Given the sire’s turf record in sprints, 3/36, with this filly scoring one of the three wins at Pimlico over a year ago (and getting only a 66 Equibase score), I will pass this gal. 2-Mamba Queen (8/1) is second off the claim for Hugh McMahon and drops back to this level off a game effort against higher priced platers. An improvement again today will be lethal against this group.

7-9-2

Monmouth Park R7|Post Time: 4:45 pm ET

Turf 1.5 Miles|3↑ Alw 30000s|Purse: $30K

2-Larger Than Life (4/1) is taking a class drop yet gets Jomar Torres as jock who is a lame 7/77 in routes and 4/55 on turf. 7-Sir Staffer (12/1) is coming off his Equibase high number and has looked like a different horse since leaving Florida.

8-Raising Moon (5/1) is also coming off his Equibase high number and has been performing well since moving to Monmouth. Dropping in class today after an abysmal performance in a straight first level Allowance race, he unfortunately gets 4/56 route jock Jose Ferrer just 6/60 on the turf. Pass.

9-God Is Love (9/2) is first off the claim for Claudio Gonzalez (25%) and moving up in class. He too is coming off his Equibase high number and has been consistent in his performance.

9-7

Colonial Downs R8|Post Time: 5:01 pm ET

Turf 5.5 Furlongs|3↑ Alw 70000N1X|Purse: $70K

1-Button Boy (5/1) broke his maiden in a $75K mcl at Keeneland last out and has three strong works leading up to today. 2-By The Sey Shore (8/1) is coming off a strong performance last out and is rated as the third best closer in this field. The lightly raced six year old is on an upward form swing and can lurk large late. 8-Upbeat Melody (5/1) has a 6/3-0-0 on turf, is the dangerous speed today, and given his :48 work on August 8, is in proper form to do just that. Getting lead jockey Jareth Loveberry gives more confidence. 7-Shelly Island (5/1) has his second shot at this level and ended up with a tough trip last time, stumbling at the start and chased on to get a show finish check. It was a game effort against state breds and Jevian Toledo gets the reigns back. 9-E J’s Revenge (6/1) gets the best last two race numbers with SmartCap in such a manner that he must be thrown in. He caught tough traffic last out and damn near won, just missing by a neck. 4-Simple Logic (6/1) must be included given his trainers numbers – 24% on turf and 25% in routes. He gets a major cutback for this speed gelding and will challenge Upbeat Melody on the front end.
