Penn National, Race 6, 1 mile on turf
Interested in only one race for today and that’s the $400K G2 Penn Mile.
This is for 3yo’s on turf and 1-Annapolis (6/5) is going to be bet down. Pletcher trained and ridden by Irad, he is a colt by War Front and is undefeated (2/2). Pletcher is renown for getting horses ready and performing well off a layoff. 7-Red Danger (5/2). An Orb colt who campaigned well last year going 6/3-1-0 for $453K, cannot seem to get it together this year going 4/0-1-0. This does not look like the right spot to turn it around. 8-Fort Washington (7/2) will be taking the second most money in this race given the Shug/Flavien connection. He will need a leap forward to compete. Of course, when you have a stud jockey, anything can happen. My choice is 6-Witty (12/1) and hoping Carol Cedeno can work out a trip. I am not putting a ton of cash because there are many going against the grain instances – PA bred vs mostly KY breds, dirt to turf sire % is poor. Trainer % off layoff, and every other detail is a nil…except for the important one - 60% with this jockey….and his last three races are wins by large margins.
Happy Hunting!
