Last night, Bono knocked on my door singing

♫ I Can’t Believe The News Today ♫

♫ Oh, I Can’t Close My Eyes And Make it Go Away ♫

So, I replied, ♫ Sunday, Bloody Sunday ♫

Ouch ☹

And that’s all I have to say about that.

There are three, 2yo races today to handicap.

Delaware Park Race 3 - $38K Maiden Special

2yo fillies going one mile and seventy yards.

In this race, I like 2 – Golden Belief (10/1) snagged a Group 2 breeze fig when tested in Ocala last May. This year, 2yo’s debuting in this price range are 7/17 or 41%, so the odds are in her favor. Overall, Group 2 horses that have won are 20%. At Delaware Park, they are 3/8 or 38%. 1 - Helluva Lady (10/1) is out of the sire Golden Lad who sired Mid Atlantic rock star Hello Beautiful. Sent out as the favorite on July 24, she ran evenly and cashed a show check for that effort. 7 - Extra Crunchy (10/1) is out of black type winner Summer Front. She raced at this course on July 21, was third in the betting, and showed little – getting a 41 Equibase number. She has since worked out on August 1 and clocked a solid :48.8. 10 - Style (9/2) is a Union Rags filly whose dam is out of Afleet Alex. Her workouts have been brisk at five furlongs, 1:01.4 & 1:01.8, so watch the toteboard with her.

I’m going with Helluva Lady

Thistledown Race 8 - $24K Maiden Special

2yo’s going 5.5 furlongs

4 - Twilight Vision (7/2) is out of a dam named Star Sheba, who has foaled four others and three of those won at first asking with the fourth just missing by ¾ of a length. The only Kentucky bred of this group, his dad, Even The Score, has produced 95 racing foals that are winning at an 18% rate. His workouts have been nothing to write home about, except one gate work at :48.5. 5 – Goodbyellowbrickrd (5/2) is a Group 1 tested colt out of Paynter who has had just three workouts leading up to this which makes the morning line odds puzzling. Yes, breeding is important and so is conditioning. We will see. The choice for me is 6 – Good Idea (3/1) who is out of Buffum nee Bernardini. Buffum blasted a 101 Equibase number on debut and this colt just worked a :46.3 from the gate. It’ll be catch me if you can with him.

Indiana Grand Race 7 - $34K Maiden Special

This has a veritable who’s who of sires in this race with Frosted’s 3 – Frosty Dreams (30/1), Pioneer Of The Nile’s Presidential (4/1) Runhappy’s Carnivore (4/1) and Union Rags’ 8 – Admission (4/1) a Godolphin owned colt. Mike Maker sends out 7 – Dumi Knife (7/2) out of Daredevil, who has worked out keenly leading up to this. 9 – Ginnsu Warrior (3/1) is up against it because, according to our database, 2yo’s that have raced twice and their last race was above a 70 Equibase score, are nil. Out of all of that, I prefer 1 – Go Bali Go (12/) out of Brazilian monster Bal a Bali, who came stateside to snag two G1’s and a G3 stakes.

Recap

Delaware 3rd – Helluva Lady

Thistledown 8th – Good Idea

Indiana Grand 7th – Go Bali Go

Happy Hunting 😊
