The road the road trip is over and what normally takes 16 hours, took 19. There was road construction in every state. 😒 The good news is, after all my expenses, I came home with more money than I left with. 😊 What was most surprising is Parx. TV does it no justice. It is a beautiful facility with a brand new sports book, ample parking, good food, and a very friendly staff. Penn National was the second favorite with Dark Delaware third and Gestapo Pimlico far back.
Delaware Park Race 2 – $25K Maiden Optional Claiming
2yo Fillies going five furlongs
#6 It Is What It is (12/1) may pose a threat. She had a race at Monmouth and the connections likely figured the filly needed the crop and moved her back here where she was training before racing. She gets class relief today. #8 Mama G’s Wish (2/1) looks like a big ol’ sucker bet with her two races and class drop today. She put in an extremely poor 1:06 workout on June 5th and has yet to improve her position during a race. My two choices are going to be the entry by Jamie Ness 1a Ruby Dooby Doo and Holy Pink (3/1) because you never count Ness out and #7 Show’Em Who’s Boss (8/1) who just clocked a :49 from the gate and gets first Lasix today.
Delaware Park Race 4 - $25K Waiver Maiden Claiming
3yo’s↑ going six furlongs
#8 Imagine Hongkong (6/1) money burner in his three races, today, he drops to the maiden claiming ranks and he’s been on the shelf since mid-March. Trainer Gary Capuano is 28% with horses off 2-6 months and his works have been increasing progressive since his layoff. With bugboy Ignacio and a 10 lb weight break, he should be a factor today. Equibase rates this is a 74 and I keep looking at this 2/1 favorite Galilee, who has three races against 69, 73 & 91, fetching a 63, 75, & 40 respectively, thinking that he is an overlay. The previously mentioned Imagine Hongkong raced against 78, 86 and 72, getting a 75, 72 and 74, so you see why I am not so keen on the favorite. #3 Gunner Paul (4/1) Keeneland shipper clipped a 1:01 from the gate workout on June 2nd and had a four furlong breeze on June 9th. There is a lot to like in this $150K OBS Spring Group 1 tested colt out of Exaggerator (who won the Santa Anita Derby, The Preakness, and The Haskell). Given the brisk workout, the time off, the breeding, and the drop in class, he's going to make a big splash today. As always, I am going to take a shot on a price. #9 King Nekia (12/1) two races on turf, two POS results. Two workouts on dirt, two excellent results. Two races on dirt, two solid results. Do you get the pattern?
Parx Race 7 - $16K Maiden Claiming
3yo’s↑ going one mile and seventy yards on turf
if this race stays on turf, I am going to go with #8 Gaucho (4/1) and #9 Grandpa Dominick (15/1), with the stronger preference going to Grandpa Dominick. He gets second time Lasix today and a second chance on turf where he ran a lot better last time.
