We’ll start with the 7th race at Parx on Tuesday June 1 and home in on #3 Know It Now. This was a $45K allowance. Throughout the backstretch and into the turn, whenever a horse came near Know It Now, he would take off. He is a very game colt.
Then, we got into the turn. This is the fourth time Mychel Sanchez has ridden Know It Now, and he has never shown this type of behavior before. Because as you will see through the turn….
He bolts out
and out
And out
Until Mychel does a …’whooooooooaaaaaaaah… get me outta here’.
Feeling like this is just an outlier, I'll have no problem betting this horse back.
The next race is the 8th from Delaware on Wednesday June 2. Let’s look at #3 Everett’s Song, a first time starter out of Liam’s Map. He broke well and started to get into contention early.
After being checked on the backstretch, he made his way to 3rd before #1 Mohs started to overtake him.
On the far right in the black cap is Everett’s Song as he was switched to the rail going into the turn. He countered the turn like an old pro and this allowed him to make up strides for a late run. This is a rare feat for a first timer to bow into the turn like that and it was impressive.
Down the stretch he starts his bid getting to within a length of winner #7 Riley’s Dude.
And finishing strong to within ½ length. Given the backstretch checking and the bobbing in and out of traffic, this was an impressive race for a first time 3yo. Any improved performance after this will lead to a victory.
The last horse this week is long strider #2 Trainer Please entered in the 2nd at Santa Anita on May 31. This was a maiden special for 3yo’s↑ and Trainer breaks from the gate well and gets into the fray.
As they entered the turn, Mario Gutierrez has a firm hold on him and he’s well positioned.
As they make the turn and head down the stretch, he is still holding the lead.
He then tires back to 3rd place. The significance of this race is his leading fractions of :22.07 & :45.70, so it’s no wonder he ran out of gas. The very next race was the same distance, yet on turf, and they went :22.26, :45.09, for an allowance race.
