Best Longshots:
Race 5: #12 – True West
Race 7: #3 – She’s Not The Pope

Race 1
$10K Claimers NW2 3yo+ 1 Mile
#2 Rose Royce Deal (8/5) this was taken from his last race from the stewards from May 4th:
“Race 2:#1 Rolls Royce Deal, the 1-9 favorite, rallied strongly on the outside late on the stretch turn and quickly took command outside two rivals in early stretch. After being struck once by the riding crop in mid-stretch, he cocked his head towards the infield video board and bolted sideways towards the outside rail, in spite of jockey Francicsco Arrieta to correct the problem. Arrieta eventually had to slow the horse to a light gallop in order to avoid running into the outside rail. Arrieta reported that the horse had become unmanageable. Rolls Royce Deal was sent to the barn for testing. Dr. Bowman reported that he could find nothing physically wrong with Rolls Royce Deal.”

Would you say that he got pissed because he was trying to see himself running on the tote board and bolted? No. It was 1st Lasix . . . amateur guess. Today he gets 2nd Lasix and on May17th, trainer Robertino Diodoro and jockey Arrieta had him out for a breeze and leisurely did four furlongs in :49.7. Today RRD gets second Lasix and the same winning combo of Diodoro and Arrieta – 36%.
Race 1 bets:
This guy is going to dust this group and the odds will be subpar. If 1-1 or better:
2 - $100/w $200/p

Race 2
$15K Waiver Claiming for staties. F&M 3yo+ & NW3 6 Furlongs

To give you an idea of why you should not bet on a Minnesota bred horse when they’re away from state bred races, look at the numbers.

Equibase rates each race with a score, given the condition book and the way the track played. The #3 – Dusty Princess (5/1) ran an open company 10K claimer on September 15th at Canterbury. Rating: 79. The previous race was on September 2nd at Canterbury as well, and it was a $36K allowance race for staties – rating: 79. In contrast, a track of the relative same size, attendance and handle, Penn National, had a state bred only allowance race in the 6th last night. It was for $31.6K and the rating: 87. When handicapping horses, eight points is substantive in class rating.

This leads me to the 1 – Papa’s Isla Doll (5/2) shipped in from Will Rogers, this filly gets white hot jockey Elvin Gonzalez (44% L/10). In her first race on April 16th at WRD, she chased the leader and eventually tired, getting up for the show. She then moved to Canterbury and was entered in a state bred $$38K allowance race and got smoked. Tonight, she is back to the $15K claiming level against state breds and she is the only entrant with any races thus far this year and is a sprinter. Most of the runners in this race are distance horses and almost all are moving back to dirt from turf.

3 – Dusty Princess (5/1) mare is coming off a layoff since September and her last workout was a bullet, going five furlongs in :59.8. With outside speed and inside speed, her closing talents will come into play.
Race 2 Bets:
1 - $25/w $50/p
$2 Exacta 3-1/3-1-2
$1 Trifecta 2-3/2-3-6/1, 2-3/1/2-3-6, 6/2-3/2-3-1

Race 8
$10K Claimers 3yo+ NW4 6 Furlongs
2 – Real Fast Music (5/2) having a nice campaign this year going 4:1-3-0, ships in from Tam after a near score off the pace in similar company as these. Second off the claim from one of Tampa’s leading trainers, Kathleen O’Connell, he has had two solid works over the track and Elvin Gonzalez in the irons. Owner/Trainer Tim Padilla 22% off the claim.
4 – Ender (8/1) owns the top two highest Equibase speed scores of this group and is dropping in class. Curlin gelding will benefit from the pace in front and should be coming on in the stretch.
Race 8 Bets:
2 - $50/w $100/p
Exacta Box 2-4-6

Race 3
On the turf: 4 – Gattaia (5/2)
Off the turf: 3 – Seaside Song (5/1)

Race 4
On the turf: 12 – Maduro (6/1)
Off the turf: 1 – Angelina’S Heaven (6/1)

Race 5: 7 – Morocco (6/1)
On the turf: 10 – Nomo Ron (8/1)
Off the turf: 12 – True West (8/1)

Race 6: 3 – Dion (9/2)

Race 7: 5 – She’s Not The Pope (10/1)
