Dallas Wings vs. Minnesota Lynx Prediction: Can the Wings Slow Down the League’s Best Team?

The Lynx have won three straight over Dallas and enter Sunday riding a hot streak led by Napheesa Collier. Full picks, odds, and prediction for Wings vs. Lynx.

Minnesota has won 11 straight over Dallas dating back to 2024, and nothing about the Wings’ fading form suggests Sunday is where that ends.

Quick take:

  • Pick: Minnesota Lynx -6.5
  • Why: The West’s No. 1 seed is rolling while Dallas has dropped four of its last five
  • The number to watch: Napheesa Collier’s 19.3 points and 7.2 rebounds a night since returning from injury

The Lynx (26-7) host the Wings (19-13) at Target Center on Sunday, and the gap between these two clubs has only widened as August has worn on. Minnesota has the best record in the WNBA and just throttled Las Vegas 98-87 on Saturday, its fifth win in six outings. Dallas, meanwhile, has lost four of five, including back-to-back defeats to Washington and a 94-76 blowout at the hands of Golden State on Friday.

Minnesota sits atop the Western Conference at 26-7, a full six and a half games clear of Dallas, who is clinging to the middle of a crowded playoff picture. The Lynx have been the league’s model of consistency all season, built on a top-ranked defense and a deep, versatile roster that doesn’t rely on one player to carry every night. Dallas has flashed real talent behind a dynamic backcourt, but the Wings’ inconsistency on the road and thin depth behind their top two scorers have made stretches like this one a recurring problem rather than a one-off slump.

Why the Line Keeps Growing in Minnesota’s Favor

Sportsbooks have Minnesota favored by 6.5 to 8.5 points depending on the shop, with the moneyline sitting around -260 for the Lynx and +205 for the Wings. The total sits near 179.5. That number has crept up over the course of the week as more books have moved off Minnesota’s opening number, a sign the market sees this less as a coin-flip pace game and more as a Lynx team that can simply take over whenever it wants.

Collier Is Peaking at the Worst Possible Time for Dallas

Napheesa Collier missed time with an ankle injury earlier this season, but in her six games back she’s averaging 19.3 points, 7.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists a night. She just dropped 22 points on 7-of-14 shooting with five 3-pointers and three blocks in Saturday’s win over Las Vegas, and in six career meetings against Dallas she’s put up 19.8 points and 7.2 rebounds a game. Guard Olivia Miles has also emerged as a legitimate second option, and Minnesota’s defense — allowing just 83.6 points a game, best in the league — has been the actual separator during this stretch. Dallas simply doesn’t have the interior size to match Minnesota’s front line for 40 minutes, and it’s shown up on the glass all season.

Paige Bueckers has still been terrific overall — 20.9 points, 6.2 assists and 4.2 rebounds a game — but she’s cooled off lately, scoring just six points against Connecticut before back-to-back 17-point nights against Washington and Golden State that didn’t come with much efficiency. Arike Ogunbowale has been worse, posting a career-low 14.8 points a game and managing just five points on 2-of-10 shooting in Friday’s loss. When your two leading scorers are both scuffling at the same time, beating a team playing at Minnesota’s level on the road gets exponentially harder.

The Lynx have won all three head-to-head meetings with Dallas this season, including a 100-76 rout at Target Center in June.

That June result matters here. It was the same building, a similar Wings team, and the outcome wasn’t competitive. Dallas did manage to beat Minnesota on its own floor back in late June, so this series isn’t a total lock — but two of the three meetings have gone Minnesota’s way by comfortable margins, and the Lynx have only gotten better since. Jessica Shepard has quietly been Dallas’s most consistent piece, averaging a double-double with 14.8 points and 11.7 rebounds, but one player controlling the glass isn’t enough against a Minnesota frontcourt that’s playing its best basketball of the year.

Dallas will need a big shooting night from Bueckers and better health across the roster to hang around into the fourth quarter. The Wings also have to find a way to slow Minnesota’s transition game, which has fueled several of the Lynx’s blowout wins this season — Minnesota’s bench units have consistently outscored opposing reserves, and that depth advantage tends to show up most in the third and fourth quarters when starters get a breather. If Dallas can’t match that pace or keep its turnovers down, this game could get away from them well before the final buzzer. Prediction and Best Bet

Minnesota’s defense, depth and Collier’s current form make this a tough spot for a Dallas team that’s lost its rhythm at exactly the wrong time. The Lynx have covered this number in two of three meetings this season and should be fresh off consecutive home wins riding into Sunday.

The pick:

  1. Prediction: Minnesota Lynx 94, Dallas Wings 82
  2. Best Bet: Minnesota Lynx -6.5

Take the Lynx to cover comfortably at home against a Wings team searching for answers.
