Qualifying Matches
Michael Mmoh over Tommy Paul
The start of the summer hard court season appears official, as 64 men have crowded into the field in Atlanta making the 32-draw qualies somewhat appealing. In this match, I’d love to see American Tommy Paul win, as he appears to have recovered from recent injuries and is finding his form, but he’s 0-4 against Mmoh, so I’d have to say that Mmoh has his number.
Ryan Harrison over Viktor Troicki
We haven’t heard much from Ryan Harrison this year, and that he’s 27 I’d say that it’s about time that he puts it all together and do something with his career, or pick a club to teach at. Qualifying matches might not mean much to fans and the general public, but they mean a lot to guys like Harrison and Troicki who are knocking on the door of the main draws trying to get ranking points and cash to push their careers forward. Harrison carries a 3-1 career record over Troicki, a 33-year-old Serbian, and I like him on the hard courts in Hotlanta. Troicki’s only victory over Harrison was in Washington in 2011, when Harrison was still a teenager.
