DraftKings’ online sports betting revenue in Oregon jumped 84.5% in July, hitting $12.4 million, according to figures the state released on August 9. Handle climbed 44.9% to $82.9 million, giving DraftKings a hold rate of 14.9% for the month.

DraftKings is the only legal mobile sportsbook operator in Oregon, running the state’s sports betting market exclusively through a partnership with the Oregon Lottery that began in 2022. Under that arrangement, the Lottery collects roughly 51% of sports betting proceeds, one of the highest effective state revenue shares in the country alongside New Hampshire, New York, and Rhode Island.

Parlays and Soccer Drove the Surge

Parlay betting was the standout category in July. DraftKings held 23.2% of all parlay wagers, generating $6.5 million in parlay win, a 66.2% increase. Parlay handle itself leapt 57.6% to $27.9 million, underscoring how much of Oregon bettors’ action is now funneled into multi-leg bets rather than straight wagers.

Soccer betting exploded even further, with handle up 421.9% to $24.7 million, or roughly 30% of the state’s total handle for the month. Baseball matched that same 30% handle share, rising 13.3% year-over-year, while table tennis wagering climbed 22.6% to account for 15% of total handle — a notable showing for a niche market in a state without college sports betting available.

A Monopoly Model That Keeps Growing

Oregon’s sports betting market looks different from most legal states. Rather than licensing multiple operators to compete for customers, as seen in states like New Jersey or Colorado, the Oregon Lottery controls the market directly and delivers it exclusively through a single vendor. DraftKings took over that role from SBTech in January 2022, replacing the Lottery’s in-house Scoreboard app.

That structure means Oregon bettors don’t have access to the kind of DraftKings promo code offers or competing sign-up incentives that shape betting markets in open-licensing states, since there’s no rival sportsbook vying for the same customers. Retail sports wagering in Oregon remains separately controlled by tribal casinos under existing gaming compacts, while BetMGM operates a geofenced app usable only on-site at Spirit Mountain Casino.

Even with no competition driving promotional spending, July’s numbers show consistent growth in Oregon’s mobile betting appetite, particularly around parlay products and international soccer markets. With football season approaching, the state’s handle and revenue figures are likely to climb further, testing whether a single-operator model can keep pace with the growth curves seen in more competitive states.
