New York Mets Sign Novig as MLB’s First Prediction Market Team Partner
The Mets have become MLB's first team to partner with a prediction market company, signing a multi-year deal with sports trading platform Novig.

The New York Mets have signed a multi-year partnership with Novig, naming the sports trading platform the club’s exclusive official prediction market partner. The deal makes the Mets the first Major League Baseball franchise to align with a prediction market company, adding another layer to the sport’s rapidly expanding relationship with the prediction market space.
Under the agreement, Novig will be woven into the Mets’ fan experience at Citi Field, with stadium signage, in-game branded activations, and integration across the team’s broadcast and social media channels. The partnership signals how quickly prediction markets have moved from a fringe curiosity to a mainstream sports marketing category, with pro franchises now competing to land these deals the same way they once chased traditional sportsbook sponsorships.
Mets and Novig Frame the Deal as a First for Baseball
“Our mission is to build the home for sports trading,” said Jacob Fortinsky, CEO and co-founder of Novig. “Partnering with one of baseball’s most iconic franchises allows us to bring that vision directly to fans in one of the greatest sports markets in the world.”
Lew Sherr, president of business operations for the Mets, echoed that framing. “We’re proud to be the first Major League Baseball club to partner with a prediction market company, giving our fans a new and engaging way to connect with the game,” Sherr said. “Innovation is a defining characteristic of our business, and this partnership is another example of our commitment to staying at the forefront of the evolving sports landscape.”
Novig operates as a sports trading platform rather than a traditional sportsbook, letting users take positions on game outcomes in a peer-to-peer market structure rather than betting against the house. The company has been building toward a fully regulated national footprint after securing a Commodity Futures Trading Commission designation as a Designated Contract Market, a status that lets it operate as a federally regulated exchange rather than relying on state-by-state sports betting licenses. That structure has allowed Novig to reach users even in states where traditional sports betting remains prohibited.
MLB’s Growing Prediction Market Footprint
The Mets-Novig deal follows the league’s broader push into the category. MLB announced a partnership with Polymarket in March, and the agreement with Novig comes after the company earned MLB-authorized prediction market status, allowing it to participate in the league’s integrity program, including market monitoring, reporting protocols, and restrictions on markets tied to integrity risks.
Other franchises across professional sports have already made similar moves. The NHL’s Chicago Blackhawks partnered with Kalshi, while the New York Rangers signed a deal with Polymarket. The NBA has yet to land a team-level prediction market partnership, though Miami Heat star Giannis Antetokounmpo became a shareholder in Kalshi earlier this year, a sign of how deep the intersection between athletes and this emerging asset class has already grown.
For bettors and fans tracking how prediction markets stack up against traditional sportsbooks, the Mets deal is another data point in a trend that shows no signs of slowing as more leagues and teams look to capture a piece of the category’s growth.
