Granada hosts champions Atletico Madrid at the Estadio Nuevo Los Carmenes in a fixture from the 9th round of La Liga. Here at our free soccer tips website we will present you a preview of this match. Let’s go!

Granada didn’t start the new season in the way they wished. The club is very close to the relegation zone of the league currently being 17th in the table with just 6 points won. This puts them only two points ahead of the 18th Levante and the danger zone. Against Atletico Granada will try to get at least a point, but they know it’s going to be difficult.

Before the break Granada finally achieved their first win for the season. Robert Moreno’s team hosted Sevilla and surprisingly for many achieved a 1-0 win over Los Rojiblancos. The only goal in the game was scored in the 25th minute when Ruben Rochina put the ball behind the back of the goalkeeper Yassine Bounou. These three points allowed Granada to escape the relegation zone in La Liga.

Moreno’s tactics worked well against Sevilla, that’s for sure. He put his usual 4-2-3-1 formation on the pitch. Maxime Gonalons and Luis Milla did a lot of work in midfield and they helped the defense on a regular basis. Meanwhile Soro, Montoro, Rochina and Luis Suarez had the task to trouble Sevilla’s defenders when they had the chance to.

The champions Atletico Madrid are currently second in the standings, but having the same amount of points as the leaders Real Madrid. Los Colchoneros reacted well to the defeat against Deportivo Alaves which was their first for the season. Diego Simeone’s boys hosted Barcelona at the Wanda Metropolitano and scored a convincing 2-0 win against the Catalans. Thomas Lemar and Luis Suarez scored in the first half and it was enough for Atleti to snatch the three points.

Surprisingly Diego Simeone put Antoine Griezmann on the bench against Barca. The Argentine head coach opted to starting Joao Felix instead. He started the game with a 3-5-2 formation and his team dominated the opponent. These kind of performances allowed Atletico to win the title last season, so that’s exactly what they will try to do against Granada after the international break.

Simeone is lucky to have some impressive depth in his team at the moment. He had the luxury to use players like Antoine Griezmann, Kieran Trippier, Angel Correa and Renan Lodi from the bench against Barca. Most likely Griezmann will return in the line-up in the next game as he got a little rest against the Catalans.

Thomas Lemar should keep his place in the line-up after his wonderful performance against Barcelona. The Frenchman scored one of the two goals and also made an assist to Luis Suarez.

Everyone at Atletico completely understands that this team has the quality to defend the La Liga title. The loss against Deportivo Alaves was surprising, but Simeone’s boys responded in the best way possible against Barcelona. The arrival of Antoine Griezmann strengthened the squad and gave the coach one additional option in attack. Now it’s up to Atletico to use this potential. You can be sure they are aiming for the top again.

That’s the preview you can find in our free soccer tips website for the La Liga clash between Granada and Atletico Madrid. The hosts just celebrated their first win for the season, so they will be in a good mood. At the same time it’s the current champion they are facing. Atleti remain the favorites to take the three points here, but it’d be a mistake if they look at this game as a walk in the park. Most certainly it won’t be.
