UEFA EURO 2020 Group B gets underway Saturday as Denmark, Belgium look to get wins
The biggest question coming into Saturday at the UEFA EURO 2020 is, can Belgium finally get over the hump and win a major trophy?
The Red Devils are the number one team in the world in the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Rankings, and probably would have beaten Croatia in the 2018 World Cup Final, if they had gotten past France in the semifinals.
But they didn’t. Now, Belgium has to win this tournament, or the 2022 World Cup, to not be seen as a failure with this golden generation. The Red Devils play Russia today to open up their Group B action.
Denmark is ranked 10th in the world coming into this tournament, and there is some buzz around the team. The Danes get to ease into the tournament against Finland in the earlier match, and maybe put some pressure on Belgium ahead of their Matchday 2 encounter June 17.
I get that there is no Kevin de Bruyne, but this Belgium team is the number one in the world for more than just him. I don’t get the odds here: the Red Devils should be able to boss this match rather easily.
As for Denmark Finland, it should be 2-0 or 3-0.
