The richest game on the planet sees Swansea City take on Brentford
Just 12 months ago, Brentford was at Wembley, looking to break its 73-year top flight drought.
But just as has happened the last nine times the Bees had a chance to be promoted through a playoff, they lost, 2-1 to Fulham.
At this point, seven straight finals losses, along with the nine straight playoff failures, is not bad luck: It is something that has taken on a life of its own.
Here we are again, though, with Brentford back at Wembley, looking to win the most lucrative match in the world: The EFL Playoff Final, with the winner heading to the Premier League to play in the best league on the planet.
Maybe the curse is broken? It looked like Brentford would once again falter against Bournemouth in the semifinals, but a red card changed everything, and now the Bees will take on Swansea City Saturday.
I am not going to lie: The Brentford 0-for-9 in playoffs scares me a little bit, as does the Swansea City team. They tied 1-1 both times this season, and I would not be surprised to see another tight contest. I just think Brentford is slightly better, and could edge it.
