Borussia Monchengladbach can put real pressure on rest of UEFA Champions League Group B with win Wednesday
Three weeks ago, Borussia Monchengladbach went to Ukraine and stunned the football world, routing Shakhtar Donetsk 6-0 in the UEFA Champions League. The win, and the way it was won, changed the dynamics of Group B, especially for the two teams in the group that most thought would easily advance, Real Madrid and Inter.
Wednesday, if Monchengladbach can get three points at home against Donetsk (and why shouldn’t they, after that dominant win on Match Day 3), the German side will move to eight points. With Inter (two points) hosting Real Madrid later in the day, anything but a win for the Italian side would be a disaster for them.
Look for Monchengladbach to come out firing. The other early kickoff sees Manchester City head to Greece, after a 3-0 win last time out against Olympiakos.
With both games blowouts last time out, I don’t see any reason to back the underdogs today. Look for straightforward wins for both Monchengladbach and Man City, to put the pressure on the other teams on Match Days 5 and 6.
