The Champions League is BACK! After a much shorter wait than usual due to COVID-19 scheduling of the previous season, we get to enjoy European football once again. European football is always entertaining seeing the stars on the biggest stage, but it is also a very easy way for Vegas to trick bettors into trap lines and take advantage of the randomness and unfamiliarity of these fixtures. I’ve got two plays in the Champions League today, as well as an MLS play coming later in the afternoon.
Kyiv hosts a Ronaldo-less Juve side in Ukraine today, with both teams holding impressive unbeaten streaks. The Ukrainians have not lost in their last 10 matches, and Juve have stayed unbeaten in their previous 6. Juve are the favorites today at -125, but the over/under is set low at 2.25. I believe that both of these lines are bait for bettors who see big name Juventus and instantly take them, as well as people who love ripping the over. Although I think Kyiv +0.5 is too bold to take today even in Ukraine, I think that the hosts benefit being at home with Juventus missing their star striker. Three goals is a lot to ask out of this game, so we will be riding the under and going against the crowd.
The Play: Under 2.5 -140 - 1 Unit
Let’s just get this out of the way. Yes, a lot of you may not know who Ferencvaros are. Truthfully, I’ve only watched them play once. But this is the Champions League group stages we are talking about. In a group of Barcelona, Juventus, Ferencvaros, and Kyiv, the two underdogs will find a way to scrape a couple of points against the big dogs even though they will ultimately miss out on the knockouts. Ferencvaros have not lost in their last eleven games, and Barcelona have only won by more than three goals once since losing 8-2 back in August to Bayern Munich. Yes, we are riding Ferencvaros today and not looking back. Let chaos ensue.
The Play: Ferencvaros +3 -130 - 1 Unit
