Soccer: Sean Miller’s Friday picks - one in England, one in Italy

There is a light schedule Friday, but it is the calm before the storm. With midweek UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League action the next two weeks, the schedule picks up, and so do the stakes.

Leeds United (+120) vs. West Bromwich Albion (+220), 2:45 pm
With the EFL Championship battle for automatic promotion to the Premier League in its final 12 matches, this may be one of the best games left on the docket. Leeds (64 points) sits in third place on goal differential, four points ahead of West Brom. Both teams have been able score goals this season: WBA has 67 in 34 games, while Leeds has 55. But they also give them up: West Brom has conceded 43, while Leeds has allowed 38. So while the game may be tight, there should be goals.
The picks: both teams to score, Yes (-138), over 2.5 goals (-114).

Cagliari (+380) vs. Inter Milan (-133), Asian handicap Inter -.5, -1 (+100), 2:30 pm
While Inter’s form guide may not be stellar, Cagliari’s has been awful. Cagliari has one win in six, and sit in 14th place in Serie A. Inter has a big match next Thursday at Eintracht Frankfurt in the UEFA Europa League round of 16, but also wants to finish in the top four of the league to move up the the Champions League next season. Friday is Inter’s chance to put a six-point gap between it and Roma in fifth.
