With the New York Knicks leading the San Antonio Spurs three games to one in the 2026 NBA Finals, prediction markets have reached peak liquidity ahead of Saturday’s potential closeout game. Polymarket’s Game 5 contract generated over $2.46 million in volume in the past 24 hours, the most active sports market on the platform, while the Knicks’ outright Finals contract is trading at 81.15 cents — implying a corresponding 81.15 percent probability of a New York championship.

The Numbers Behind the Market

The prediction markets pricing aligns closely with what traditional sportsbooks are showing, though an interesting divergence exists at the individual game level. FanDuel has the Knicks at -450 to -500 to win the series, which converts to roughly 82 to 83 percent implied probability — nearly matching the Polymarket promo code consensus. At the game level, sportsbooks have the Spurs as 5.5-point home favorites with approximately 57 percent win probability, while Polymarket gives San Antonio 64.5 percent to win Game 5. That seven-point gap between estimates suggests prediction market participants are pricing in more home-court variance than the sharper sportsbook lines.

Brunson’s Efficiency and Volume

From a player props and analytics perspective, Jalen Brunson has operated as the series’ only truly bankable performance in New York. His 2026 playoff averages of 27.4 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 6.2 assists reflect a 38 percent usage rate throughout the postseason. In Game 4, he produced 36 points on 12-of-25 shooting with nine free-throw attempts, converting nine of eleven. That free-throw rate is the key signal: Brunson draws contact at a rate that sustains his efficiency even in stretches of poor shooting. He has shot at least 12 times from the line in consecutive games, and the Spurs have not found a clean answer for his pull-up midrange game.

The Finals MVP market has Brunson at -140, with Victor Wembanyama at +350 and OG Anunoby at +400. Anunoby is interesting value given his game-winning tip-in in Game 4, but Brunson closing out a series on the road would make the vote nearly automatic.

Historical Context on 3-1 Deficits

No team in NBA history has recovered from a 3-1 Finals deficit. The Polymarket implied probability of 18.85 percent for a Spurs title reflects not just historical base rates, but also the compounded low probability of New York losing three consecutive games to close the series. The Spurs would need two wins in New York, which won its first 13 playoff games this postseason. San Antonio went 2-2 against the Knicks in the regular season and is 0-2 in this series on the road, which is the relevant sample for what the Knicks are capable of in their own building.

Game 5 Market Structure

The Game 5 contract is the most analytically interesting as a standalone market. At 64.5/35.5 in San Antonio’s favor, it prices in significant home-court advantage. The Spurs finished 62-20 overall during the regular season, the NBA’s best record, and went 32-8 at home. Both New York road wins in this series came by a combined five points, underscoring how close the game-level outcomes have been despite the lopsided series margin.

Wembanyama remains the critical variable for San Antonio’s title hopes and for the individual game result. He averaged 24.5 points, 11.4 rebounds, and 3.1 blocks per game during the regular season, and his 32-point, eight-rebound performance in Game 3 at MSG demonstrated an ability to impose himself in hostile environments. Stephon Castle contributed 23 points, five rebounds, and five assists in that same game, confirming that San Antonio has a credible secondary creator. The question for Game 5 is whether those two can sustain production for 48 minutes without the defensive energy collapsing the way it did in the second half of Game 4.
