Will this be a series, or will Tampa Bay slam the door on Montreal in Stanley Cup Finals Game 3?
This is it.
Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals looked just like Game 1 did, and Tampa Bay is two wins away from its first repeat in franchise history.
I said Game 2 was important to see which way the series would go, and I think it showed that Tampa Bay is a better team than Montreal. Now, the Canadiens head home for their first Stanley Cup Finals game in Montreal since 1993, needing to do something to ensure this is not a short series.
And by something, I mean maybe scoring a goal or two. Two goals in two games did not get it done, and the Canadiens really need to put an early goal on the scoreboard.
I still think Tampa Bay wins tonight, though; if the Lightning do, this series is over, and will end in either four or five games with a repeat champion.
If (big IF) Montreal can find a way to win tonight, we could be in for a longer series. I am not convinced.
