Detroit Red Wings (+295) @ Carolina Hurricanes (-355), 7 pm EDT
The Carolina Hurricanes are 7-3 in their last ten and just took the top spot in the Central division from the Tampa Bay Lightning. Following dominant back-to-back victories over the Florida Panthers, Carolina looks to rack up a few more wins as they play host to the struggling, yet pesky, Detroit Red Wings on Saturday night. Detroit is 1-4 in their last five games and the lone victory came against the highly talented Tampa Bay Lightning. Clearly, Detroit has the potential to win games against great competition, but unfortunately they only "show up" to compete a fraction of the time they play. Carolina is 27-9-3 this season and Detroit is 13-23-6. The Hurricanes hold a 2-1 edge in the season series over the Red Wings. As the Moneyline will likely be too steep in Carolina's favor, take a chance on the Puck Line here instead as the Hurricanes should win this game comfortably.
PICK: Carolina Hurricanes -1.5 (-133)
Tampa Bay Lightning (-185) @ Nashville Predators (+165), 8 pm EDT
The Tampa Bay Lightning are 5-5 in their last ten and just lost the top spot in the Central division. The defending Stanley Cup Champions will have their hands full with the surging Nashville Predators who are 9-1 in their last ten. On March 15, Nashville defeated Tampa Bay 4-1, and both teams have trended in opposite directions since. The saying "hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard" rings true here as all signs point toward Tampa Bay either taking their foot off of the gas pedal or simply being out-worked by teams less talented.
Despite the odds favoring the Lightning here, Nashville has the skills and the momentum behind them to win this game. To see the books favoring Tampa Bay at -185 makes no sense to me considering how inconsistent they're playing. There is great value in taking Nashville here on the Moneyline and that is where your money should go.
PICK: Nashville Predators Moneyline (+165)
