Only two teams have more goals than the 15 that the Flyers have rung up so far this season. And they have managed to tickle the twine at least three times in every game except the 6-1 loss to Buffalo when the offense just kind of took the night off and could manage only 22 shots on goal.
One of the players who failed to get off a shot that night was Claude Giroux, who is goalless on the season. Dating back through last season’s postseason, that means the Flyers’ captain has just one goal in his last 21 games played.
There is not much that says he is ready to break out of this slump except that many of his teammates are playing very well and he does have three assists on the season.
The Bruins have allowed just five goals in three games – one of them in overtime for the only loss – but goals have not been coming easy to Giroux no matter the opponent, so let’s just take a shot at him getting at least something up on the scoreboard and for the Flyers to continue their early-season success with a victory without having to go to overtime.
