Sabres (-115) @ Senators (6)
Pick: Sabres -115
The Buffalo Sabres are headed for their ninth consecutive season on the ice without a postseason berth. For a franchise that was a staple in the playoffs in the 90s and had its fair share of appearances in the first decade of the 21st century, it’s a pretty seismic fall. There’s enough young talent on Buffalo’s roster to where they should at least be closer to a playoff spot than nine points back. As far as the opponent tonight for the Sabres however, Ottawa simply is nowhere near as good, which says a lot about the Senators. If it weren’t for Detroit being historically bad this season, Ottawa would certainly be in the discussion for the league’s worst team by almost any metric. Considering we’re paying only five cents north of the standard -110 juice to back Buffalo, it’s a bet we’ll gladly make. The Sabres have won three straight games and while this minor push is almost certainly going to be too little too late as far as the postseason is concerned, Ottawa’s isn’t the team that slows down a Buffalo team that is showing some life.
