NHL Playoff Thursday: Dietel looks at game 1 of Hurricanes vs Bruins in Boston

BRUINS over Hurricanes

The Skinny
We’ve seen it before, and we will likely see it again. The Hurricanes have had the past few days off so they could be out of sorts like the Islanders were when they took on Carolina in Round 2. Sluggish, unaware, and unprepared. The Bruins however just finished up a tough 6 game series against a way better team. They are battle tested, warmed up and most likely ready to strike tonight. Sometimes just trudging along is the best way to play. Their mental focus, clarity and goals are all still aligned. Prolonged breaks have not ended well for teams this post season, another prime example is game one of the Bruins vs. Blue Jackets series which Columbus dropped for the same reason. We can’t side with anyone but Boston here tonight at home.
