NHL: Capitals have no sympathy for the Devils

Washington can take sole possession of first place tonight in the Metropolitan Division

Devils (+270) @ CAPITALS (-330) 7:00pm
Pick: Capitals (-330)

The Washington Capitals (39-21-7) can take sole possession of first place tonight in the Metropolitan Division by acquiring one point in this tilt with the New Jersey Devils ((25-33-9). A win or an overtime loss will do the trick, but we think this one is easy pickings for the Caps. F Alex Ovechkin and his band of cohorts have been unstoppable since February 24th where they started their 5-game win streak. During that this 5-game span, 4 of these matchups were against division teams which only makes it more impressive. Not to mention, the Capitals continually have the Devils number whenever they go head-to-head this season, and they certainly aren’t opposed to running up the score either.

The Devils have received above average goaltending as of late from the new goalie tandem of Corey Schneider and Mackenzie Blackwood. They have been keeping the team in games until the very end but New Jersey is just struggling to find offense. As a result, the Devils have dropped their last 4 games in a row. In that span, they’ve scored merely one goal 3 out of 4 times. Finding the back of the net has been a huge issue for the Devils especially due to their immense amount of injuries. The over here is somewhat tempting from the Capitals alone, but due to the stalwart goaltending NJ has been getting and lack of offensive prowess, we will just go with the Capitals to win here. Take the money and run.
