Wednesday marks Part II of the Flyers’ Top of the Metro Trilogy this week, as they go Islanders, Capitals, Islanders and really get a read on whether their success over the last 21 games (16-3-2) can continue and get them into the postseason.
The fine folks at The Daily News, The Inquirer, philly.com and all their ships at sea did us a real solid -- before we could get to it -- and totaled the Flyers’ scoring for those 21 games. No surprise that Sean Couturier is leading the goal-scoring charge.
The center has 11 goals and 16 assists over the 21 games. He also has a points in his last six games against the Caps, but he has gone four straight games without a goal against them, not since a two-goal effort on Oct. 14, 2017.
With Jake Voracek out again (see the QUICKIE QUIZ) and Nolan Patrick a game-time decision, Couturier is going to have to ring the bell for the Flyers to have any chance against the Metro Division leaders before they head back to Long Island to take on the former Metro Division leaders.
