Hurricanes -120 @ Rangers +100, 8 pm
Pick: Rangers money line +100
Tonight the Carolina Hurricanes (27-21-6) travel to MSG to take on the New York Rangers (23-22-8) for some Friday night hockey. Both teams are coming off huge team overtime wins. Last night, Carolina defeated the Sabres 6-5 in glorious fashion with a F Teuvo Teravainen game winner. On Wednesday, the Rangers rallied past the Bruins, overcoming a 2 goal deficit and winning in the shootout. Both of these teams are 6-3-1 in their last 10 games.
The Hurricanes are still very much trying to make the playoffs this year on the coattails of F Sebastian Aho and their strong defensive corps. They currently are sitting 5th in the Metropolitan Division and 4 points out of second place. A victory tonight would certainly help close the cap as no other teams are playing this evening.
The Rangers, on the other hand, are 9 points out of a playoff spot but don’t consider themselves out of it yet. This team is looking to surprise people and make a final push for playoff contention. The odds of that are pretty slim, especially with management in rebuild mode, but New York has been playing with heart recently and is looking to crush other teams playoff hopes. Look for that to happen tonight with Carolina. We like the Rangers in this one, but it should be an extremely close one.
