Sunday Night Football kicks off Week 1 of the 2026 season with an NFC East grudge match at MetLife Stadium, as the Dallas Cowboys travel to face the New York Giants on Sunday, September 13 at 8:20 PM ET on NBC. Both teams enter with new-look coaching situations and plenty to prove, but for prop bettors, the story is about workload — who’s touching the ball, how often, and against what kind of resistance.

We’re zeroing in on three skill-position numbers that all hinge on early-season usage: a pair of Cowboys focal points in Javonte Williams and CeeDee Lamb, and a Giants breakout back in Cam Skattebo who’s stepping into a featured role under a new coaching staff. Here’s the analytical breakdown on each.

Javonte Williams Chasing Another Workhorse Week

Javonte Williams is priced at OVER 72.5 rushing yards at -112 (-112 on the under) via ESPN BET, and the profile supports another lead-back workload out of the gate. Williams put together a career year in 2025, rushing for 1,201 yards on 252 carries (4.77 yards per carry) with 11 rushing touchdowns and adding 137 receiving yards and two more scores through the air for 13 total touchdowns. He led all Cowboys running backs in snaps last season, and nothing in Dallas’ backfield picture this offseason suggests that changes for the opener.

The matchup is worth noting honestly rather than glossing over: the Giants’ run defense finished 2025 among the stingier units in the league by raw numbers, allowing 129.1 rushing yards per game on 4.3 yards per carry — good for 2nd-fewest rushing yards allowed leaguewide. That’s a legitimately tough draw on paper. But New York also traded away starting defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence this offseason, which strips real answers out of the middle of that front, and other advanced-metric outlooks have New York’s run defense trending toward the bottom of the league entering 2026 rather than the top. Williams is the clear bell-cow if Dallas leans on the ground game to control tempo in a Week 1 environment, and he doesn’t need an explosive run to clear 72.5 — just a normal workhorse workload at his career per-carry rate.

CeeDee Lamb’s Target Share Still Runs Through Dallas

CeeDee Lamb is priced at OVER 76.5 receiving yards at -114 (-110 on the under) via ESPN BET, and the market context here is about as strong an endorsement as you’ll find for a Week 1 prop. Lamb sits at +1100 to lead the entire NFL in receiving yards this season, squarely in the group of legitimate contenders alongside names like Puka Nacua and Ja’Marr Chase. FanDuel’s own numberFire model projects Lamb for 85.35 receiving yards and 0.51 touchdowns in this specific Week 1 matchup against the Giants — a healthy buffer above the listed line.

Lamb remains Dallas’ unquestioned WR1 and the focal point of the passing offense regardless of who’s throwing him the ball. He’s set to climb the Cowboys’ all-time receiving yardage list this season, passing Drew Pearson for fourth in franchise history, which underscores just how central he’s been to this offense’s identity for years running. Volume is the whole equation here — Lamb draws targets in bunches no matter the opponent, and the Giants’ pass defense finished 2025 in the middle-to-back-third of the league in yards allowed per attempt. A get-right spot for a receiver this productivity-projected to hit a number under 77 yards is a strong sign at this line.

Cam Skattebo’s Workload Battle in a New Offense

Cam Skattebo is priced at OVER 49.5 rushing yards at -113 (-111 on the under) via ESPN BET, and the case leans heavily on what he showed in an extended look during his rookie year. Over a six-game stretch as New York’s lead back in 2025, Skattebo averaged 96.3 total yards, 16.0 carries, and 4.7 targets per game with six total touchdowns — genuine RB1-caliber production before a season-ending injury cut his year short. Reports out of training camp have him entering Week 1 as the Giants’ clear lead option in the backfield once again.

The honest caveat: New York enters this season under new head coach John Harbaugh and offensive coordinator Matt Nagy, and Skattebo will still be sharing early-season snaps with Tyrone Tracy and Devin Singletary rather than locking down a true workhorse share immediately. Last year’s snap distribution had Skattebo, Tracy, and Singletary bunched fairly close together, and there’s no guarantee the new staff hands him a monster workload right out of the chute in Week 1. Still, at just 49.5 yards, this number only requires a modest slice of the touches he showed he could handle at nearly double this rate when healthy and featured. Against a Cowboys defense that’s replacing key pieces of its own front seven, there’s a path to Skattebo clearing this number even in a rotational role.

The Bottom Line for Sunday Night

All three of these props are about betting on established roles translating into Week 1 production, even against varying degrees of matchup resistance. Dallas leans on Williams and Lamb as its two clearest offensive engines, while New York’s new coaching staff has every incentive to feed its most talented healthy back early. Here’s how we’re stacking the card:

  • Javonte Williams OVER 72.5 rushing yards (-112)
  • CeeDee Lamb OVER 76.5 receiving yards (-114)
  • Cam Skattebo OVER 49.5 rushing yards (-113)

Lamb’s spot as the safest of the three given his target monopoly and NFL receiving-yards-leader odds, with Williams and Skattebo offering solid value tied to workload as long as their respective backfields shake out the way recent usage suggests.
