3 Skill-Position Props to Back for 49ers vs Rams on TNF

Kyren Williams, Blake Corum, and Christian McCaffrey headline our sharpest rushing and receiving prop picks for Thursday Night Football in Melbourne.

The Rams and 49ers open the 2026 season 8,500 miles from home, kicking off Thursday Night Football at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Netflix (8:35 PM ET, September 10). It’s a rematch of last year’s razor-thin NFC West race — both clubs finished 12-5 — and the ground game figures to be where this one is decided, especially with San Francisco breaking in a new-look backfield timeshare of its own around Christian McCaffrey.

We’re skipping the touchdown-dependent stuff and going straight at the workload props that carry the highest floor: two Rams backs who combined for 388 carries a season ago, and the 49ers’ engine who’s trending toward a Week 1 workload nobody’s fully priced in yet.

Kyren Williams Rushing Yards Over 57.5

Williams enters his fourth year as a Ram off a third consecutive 1,000-yard season — 259 carries for 1,252 yards (4.8 YPC) and 10 touchdowns in 2025, good enough for RB #13 on early 2026 ECR boards. He’s carried a workhorse-or-nothing role in LA’s zone-heavy scheme, and that hasn’t changed heading into Week 1: CBS Sports still lists him as the unquestioned starter, with Blake Corum entrenched as a clear-cut but distinctly secondary option behind him.

The matchup favors volume over explosiveness. San Francisco’s run defense finished 2025 middle-of-the-pack at 11th in the league, allowing 107.8 rushing yards per game and 4.3 yards per carry against — not a unit that consistently bottles up a bell-cow back. Williams cleared this number in more than half his outings a year ago even in weeks he split touches evenly with Corum, and Rotowire’s 2025 snap data still had him north of 65% of the backfield reps. At a projected 59.4 yards per the market, the number is set almost exactly at what the numbers already suggest he clears more often than not.

The added context here: this is a Week 1 revenge-game spot for LA against the team it split with head-to-head last year, and Sean McVay has shown zero hesitation feeding Williams early-down volume regardless of opponent rank. Bettors shopping this number around should check a DraftKings promo code before kickoff, since props like this one carry some line variance across books.

Blake Corum Rushing Yards Over 37.5

Corum’s role has been trending in exactly one direction since the midseason bye in 2025 — up. Over his final seven games of that stretch, Corum rushed for 429 yards at a 6.1 yards-per-carry clip, a marked jump in efficiency from his early-season work, and it culminated in a 9-carry, 55-yard showing in the NFC Championship Game where he actually out-gained Williams. For the full season he finished with 145 carries for 746 yards and six scores across all 17 games, positioned directly behind Williams on the depth chart with Ronnie Rivers a distant third.

The carry math matters for this line specifically. Rotowire’s snap distribution had Corum around 30% of Rams backfield snaps in 2025, but that share has only grown as the season progressed, and multiple outlets now project a more even timeshare in 2026 rather than the 67/30 split that defined last year’s opening weeks. Against a 49ers front that ranked outside the league’s top 10 in yards allowed per carry, 37.5 yards represents modest volume for a back who’s shown he can hit that number on a shortened workload alone — he cleared 55 yards in the conference title game on just nine totes.

If the more even carry distribution materializes as expected in Week 1, this number looks soft relative to what a 12-14 carry workload against this specific front should produce.

Christian McCaffrey Receiving Yards Over 37.5

McCaffrey is dealing with lingering “undisclosed” tightness that kept him out of 49ers training camp reps and every preseason game, but the trajectory is trending the right way — he returned to practice and full team drills in the days leading into the opener, and both Adam Schefter and the 49ers’ own reporting have consistently framed Week 1 in Australia as the target return point, not a game he’s expected to miss. He’s currently listed as Questionable, which for a player who’s been building back up through practice participation is a workload-management tag more than a genuine games-missed risk.

The receiving profile is what makes this number interesting regardless of snap-count caution. McCaffrey posted 924 receiving yards in 2025 on 36 receptions worth of route-running usage that Kyle Shanahan has never scaled back for him even in lighter-workload games — the check-down and screen game is baked into how the 49ers deploy him. Facing a Rams defense that finished 2025 allowing yardage at a below-average clip overall, and with the sportsbook market already pricing McCaffrey’s receiving-yards number in the high-30s independently, this line sits right at a total he’s cleared with regularity even in weeks where his rushing workload was capped.

The swing factor is game plan: if San Francisco is easing him back in gradually, receiving-game touches are exactly the type of usage that gets protected first — they come with far less contact than between-the-tackles carries.

Prediction and Best Bet

All three of these props lean on workload trends that were already forming before this game got circled on the calendar — a bell-cow back facing an average-at-best front, a change-of-pace back trending toward more even carries, and a superstar receiver-back whose passing-game role has never been in question even when his health has been. Rams backfield volume is our strongest read; McCaffrey’s receiving floor is the one with reduced variance no matter how his snap count shakes out early.

  • Kyren Williams OVER 57.5 Rushing Yards
  • Blake Corum OVER 37.5 Rushing Yards
  • Christian McCaffrey OVER 37.5 Receiving Yards

Lean Rams backfield volume as the anchor of this card — McVay’s early-down usage patterns are the most predictable variable on either sideline this week.
