Trevon Diggs is getting another shot at cornerback, and this time it’s with the reigning Super Bowl champions. The two-time Pro Bowl corner plans to sign a one-year deal with the Seattle Seahawks, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Wednesday, following a Tuesday tryout at the team’s facility in Renton, Washington.

The move caps a whirlwind eight months for Diggs, who was released by the Dallas Cowboys on December 30 after a season derailed by a concussion, claimed off waivers by Green Bay the very next day, then cut loose by the Packers on January 20 after appearing in just one game for them. Now, at 27, he lands in a Seattle secondary that has been actively reshaping itself all offseason.

From Cowboys Cornerstone to Camp Body

Diggs built his name in Dallas with a historic 2021 season, leading the NFL with 11 interceptions and adding two pick-sixes, a performance that landed him a five-year, $97 million extension. But the ensuing years were marked by injury and inconsistency. He suffered a torn ACL late in the 2023 season, and 2025 brought another setback when he was placed on injured reserve on October 25 with lingering concussion symptoms. He wasn’t activated again until December 20, appeared in just one defensive snap during Dallas’ wild-card loss to Chicago, and was released 10 days later without recording an interception or pass breakup all season. For his career, Diggs has totaled 20 interceptions, 63 pass deflections and two defensive touchdowns across 67 games, but he played in only 21 of the Cowboys’ final 53 games after signing his extension.

Green Bay’s brief look didn’t go any better, with Diggs managing just two tackles before his release last month. Seattle now becomes his third organization since New Year’s Day, and the timing lines up with a Seahawks secondary that suddenly needs bodies.

Why Seattle Needs Him Now

Seattle enters the year replacing Riq Woolen, who departed in free agency, while second-year safety Nick Emmanwori has been sidelined for much of training camp recovering from offseason ankle surgery. The Seahawks also agreed to a one-year, minimum-salary deal with former Lions first-round pick Terrion Arnold last week, but Arnold is expected to land on the NFL’s commissioner exempt list while he faces eight felony charges in Florida tied to a February kidnapping and armed robbery case, meaning he may not be available to play at all this season. That leaves an obvious opening in the No. 3 cornerback competition, and Diggs, still just 27, gives coach Mike Macdonald a proven ball-hawk to audition for a role behind the starters as final roster cuts approach.

What It Means for Seattle’s Betting Markets

The Seahawks head into the season among the shortest Super Bowl prices in the league, currently sitting around +1100 to repeat as champions, with -225 odds to make the playoffs and a regular-season win total set at 10.5. None of that market pricing figures to move meaningfully off a one-year, depth-chart-style signing like this one, but it does matter at the margins for a defense that ranked among the NFL’s best last season, allowing a league-low 17.2 points per game. Secondary health and depth is precisely the kind of variable that shows up in situational and player-prop markets as the season unfolds, particularly if Emmanwori’s ankle lingers or Arnold’s legal situation keeps him unavailable. A healthy, motivated Diggs competing for real snaps is a low-cost hedge for Seattle against further attrition in the back end, and bettors tracking Seahawks team-total and defensive props over the coming weeks should watch camp reports closely to see whether he factors into the regular rotation or simply provides training camp competition and depth insurance.
