We have the battle for Texas this Monday night in Dallas and it should be an interesting one. The Cowboys have been limping through this season and it seems like Jerry Jones may blow the whole team up.
Meanwhile, the Texans started the season solid, but have now lost 3 of their last 4 games. Dallas, now led by Cooper Rush, will look to turn things around while the Texans are looking to get back on track to their winning ways. The Cowboys have won 4 of the 6 all-time match-ups between these teams.
This is the Texans' third straight primetime game, and they will be looking for their first win of the stretch. Much like the Cowboys, the Texans have been beaten up as of late.
They dropped a game to the faltering Jets on Thursday night 2 weeks back and blew a game where they intercepted the ball 5 times against the Lions last Sunday night. Now taking on the Cowboys, who have dropped 4 straight, they’ll look to get back on track.
They are getting their top WR, Nico Collins, back from injury which should help CJ Stroud. I still have faith in this Texans team if they can get healthy. A win here in the Battle for Texas could be big for their confidence.
It has been a rough go for the Cowboys so far this season, and things seem to be getting worse. QB Dak Prescott has been ruled out for the rest of the season and all in all this team has just looked bad over the past month.
Their last win came in a last-second Touchdown on the road against the Steelers which, at the time, seemed to be a huge win for them. Now they have dropped their last 4 games and lost their $240 million Quarterback.
Jerry Jones seems to be losing faith in this team and Mike McCarthy has looked lost on the sidelines. It seems like it is time to say this season may be a wash for the Cowboys. A win here would be big, but they would likely need to win out to have a chance at the playoffs.
As I mentioned before, the Cowboys lead the all-time series 4-2. However, they haven’t met since 2022. The Texans also have become a much better team in those two years with the addition of potential franchise QB CJ Stroud and head coach DeMeco Ryan.
There really aren’t many good things to say about the Cowboys right now. Their defense has looked bad, and their offense has gotten derailed with Dak Prescott being out, not that he was lighting it up anyway.
Joe Mixon has been the catalyst for the Texans offense this season, and Nico Collins is returning to action. I would expect the Texans to feature Mixon a ton against a Dallas team that ranks 30th in rush yards per game.
As I said before, the Cowboys can’t seem to stop the run. Mixon has been great so far this season, so this seems to be trending in the right direction.
Nico Collins has missed the last 5 games with a Hamstring injury, so I’m expecting the Texans to get him involved early.
We're not getting great odds on this one, but it seems pretty likely to happen. I’m expecting the Texans to lead most of the game, so Rush will have to air it out.
