One of the premier matchups of the NFL Week 10 slate features two of the hottest teams in the league. Will the Commanders get another home win, or will the Steelers pull off the upset? Find out below! Best of luck!
This line was Pittsburgh -1 back in the summer months, but that was before the whole world realized just how good of a QB Jayden Daniels was. The emergence of Daniels and a solid rushing attack has flipped this line to Washington -3 at most online sports betting apps.
The total for this game has also seen quite a bit of movement. It opened at 44 but lots of action on the Over has pushed the line up to 45.5 at almost every online sportsbook in the industry. That move is a bit surprising when you consider how tough the Pittsburgh defense has been lately.
The Steelers looked fantastic on Monday Night Football against the Giants and then they got to enjoy some time off in Week 9. Will the bye week help Pittsburgh heal up or will hit put a damper on all of their momentum?
The Pittsburgh offense looks a whole lot different with veteran QB Russell Wilson at the helm. Justin Fields didn't do a bad job, but Wilson's pinpoint accuracy makes the Steelers even more dangerous to defend. The chemistry that Wilson has already formed with George Pickens has been impressive, to say the least.
As usual, Mike Tomlin's defense has been one of the best in the league so far in 2024. The Steelers rank 2nd in points allowed and 4th in yards per rush allowed. TJ Watt continues to be the Steelers' best pass rusher, as he's already racked up 6.5 sacks despite lots of double teams.
It's hard not to love how quickly Dan Quinn and Jayden Daniels have turned around this Commanders franchise. It's one of the best comeback stories of 2024 in my humble opinion. Daniels is still banged up with sore ribs, but it hasn't affected his performance one iota.
Daniels gets most of the attention, but a big reason for Washington's success has been their relentless ground game. Brian Robinson Jr. leads the team with 461 rushing yards and 6 touchdowns. He's listed as questionable to play after sitting out last week's game with a hamstring injury.
Washington's defense doesn't look great on paper, but their bend-don't-break style has kept teams from finding the end zone too frequently. The Commanders are only giving up 21 points per game despite ranking next to last in yards per rush allowed. Veteran LB Bobby Wagner leads the team in tackles with 76.
I hate fading Washington at home, but I think this is the right time to sell them at a high point. I love watching Daniels play but this Pittsburgh defense is a whole different animal. Look for Tomlin to stack the box to shut down the Washington running game.
That will make the Commanders one-dimensional and could lead to an INT or two from the rookie QB. The bye week gives Tomlin plenty of time to put together a solid game plan on both sides of the ball. Lastly, my power rankings say this game should be right at a Pick'em, so let's take the 3 points with Pittsburgh!
Prediction: Steelers 24 - Commanders 23
