One of the top matchups of NFL Week 9 pits two NFC West teams against each other as the Rams will visit Seattle to take on the Seahawks. Get all of the vital info in our betting guide for Sunday, November 3.
Most online sportsbooks installed the Seahawks as 3-point home favorites on the look-ahead line last week. However, there has been lots of sharp money on the Rams since then, so much so that the current point spread is now Rams -1.5 at most shops.
Oddsmakers are expecting a moderately high-scoring game, according to the game total. It opened at 48.5 and that's where it still sits at most online sportsbooks. If you want to bet on the Over, be sure to try and find the 48 that's available at a couple of prominent betting apps.
The Rams shocked the world last week on Thursday Night Football, as Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua returned from injuries to resurrect the offense. Matthew Stafford looked like a different QB with both of his favorite weapons back. The former Georgia star threw for 279 yards and 4 touchdowns in the Rams' 30-20 win over Minnesota.
While most of the focus will be on Kupp and Nacua, Seattle will also have to contend with RB Kyren Williams. The former Notre Dame star ranks 2nd in the league with 8 rushing touchdowns this season. As a unit though, the Rams rank just 30th in yards per rush gained.
The Rams have struggled defensively for most of 2024, so that's something to keep an eye on in this game. LA ranks just 31st in yards per pass allowed and 26th in yards per play allowed. Jaylen McCollough has been the bright spot of this unit, as he's already picked off 3 passes this season.
The Seahawks were embarrassed last week at the hands of the Buffalo Bills. They had a hard time generating any semblance of a pass rush against Josh Allen, which was a big reason why they lost by 3 touchdowns.
Geno Smith has thrown for a chunk of yards this season (2,197) but his 7 interceptions have been more than a bit costly. Smith has arguably the best wideout trio in the game with DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Metcalf is listed as questionable, but head coach Mike Macdonald said he's optimistic that he'll play.
Seattle's pass defense has been about average, but they've struggled to stop the run for most of the year. They may need to bring a linebacker up to the line every once in a while to help stop Williams in this one. Derick Hall leads the team with 5 sacks.
We played on Seattle in a great bounce-back spot against Atlanta a couple of weeks ago and this spot against the Rams is eerily similar. The Seahawks should be highly motivated after laying an egg at home against the Bills last week. This is a great 'buy-low' spot on Seattle.
Meanwhile, this is a great time to sell the Rams at a high. The whole world just saw them look fantastic on Thursday Night Football last week, which is a big reason why this line has moved 4.5 points off the look-ahead number. Let's play the Seahawks to win a close one at home! Good luck!
Prediction: Seahawks 27 - Rams 24
