Can Kenneth Walker help the Seahawks upset the Falcons in Week 7?

We had a fantastic Sunday in NFL action, as our best bets went a perfect 3-0 to run our sides record to 12-3 this season. We're slowly digging out of the hole created by a rough start (7-21) in player props. That brings us to 19-24 on the year and we're headed in the right direction.

One of the premier matchups on the NFL Week 7 slate includes the ever-so-lovable "Bird Bowl" between the Seahawks and the Falcons. Check out our preview below for all of the important betting info! Best of luck this week!

Betting Odds for Seahawks at Falcons

Oddsmakers made this line Atlanta -2.5 on the lookahead, but several online shops bumped that up to Atlanta -3 after the Falcons' dominant performance over the Panthers in Week 6.

Sportsbooks may also have downgraded Seattle after a subpar performance on Thursday Night Football against San Fran. As for the total, it opened up at 47.5 before a wave of Over money pushed it to the current number of 49.5. That move probably had a lot to do with how good the Falcons have looked on offense recently.

Can Seattle End Its Losing Streak?

It's been a Dr. Jekyll / Mr. Hyde type of year so far for the Seahawks. They started out 3-0 before dropping 3 straight games to the Lions, Giants, and Niners. Seattle has got to find a way to take better care of the football if it wants to make any type of playoff run.

Speaking of taking better care of the ball, that's exactly what Geno Smith needs to work on. The former West Virginia star has already thrown 6 interceptions during the 2024 campaign. Smith has developed a bad habit of throwing into double coverage, and he's got to be satisfied with some short check-downs if this team is going to improve.

Seattle's defense has done a good job of rushing the passer this season, as they rank 7th in sack rate. However, their Achilles heel has been their rush defense, which ranks 28th in yards per rush allowed. Getting Byron Murphy back at nose tackle would go a long way toward improving that unit.

Will the Falcons Offense Stay Hot?

Kirk Cousins has looked like a different QB over the last couple of weeks. He's reading defenses more efficiently and the Achilles injury looks to have completely healed. The Falcons have won 3 in a row and are currently leading the NFC South division standings.

Cousins has a ton of weapons at his disposal. Drake London leads the receiving corps with 38 receptions, 428 yards, and 4 touchdowns. Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier make a solid 1-2 punch at the running back position.

Atlanta's defense has been pretty stout in a few areas this season. The Falcons rank 7th in yards per pass allowed and 10th in yards per play allowed. Linebackers Kaden Elliss and Troy Andersen have each racked up 44 tackles.

Best Bet: Seahawks +3 (-115 at BetMGM)

This is a great spot to buy Seattle at a relatively low price after three straight defeats. While those three losses are concerning, two of them were two elite teams (San Fran and Detroit). I'm not downgrading my power rating on the 'Hawks at all for those bumps in the road.

On the flip side, this is a nice opportunity to sell Atlanta at a high price. Sure, they've won three straight but two of those were against subpar teams (New Orleans and Carolina). Look for Geno Smith to play more conservatively and for Seattle to cover this number!

Prediction: Seattle 27 - Atlanta 24
