Professional bettors will always utilize power rankings when assessing any game. This gives them a baseline to start from in order to determine what value is available for a particular game.

Power rankings vary dramatically based on the factors valued most by the handicapper. For instance, our power rankings consider everything from the play of the offensive line (relative to opponents played) and even include ratings for both the offensive and defensive playcaller.

Our power rankings include a point spread team rating, which gives you an idea of what we would expect the spread to be for each team, if they were playing an average opponent at a neutral site.

Here are our current power rankings for all 32 teams through the first three weeks of the NFL season:

Who have been the best (and worst) quarterbacks in football?

There are a number of quarterbacks that have surprised early on this season, Derek Carr, Sam Darnold, Justin Fields, and Kyler Murray have been great. We're still taking the usual suspects above everyone else: Mahomes, Lamar, and Josh Allen.

Several quarterbacks have been beyond disappointing this season, but the names that stand out right now are Jared Goff, Caleb Williams, Anthony Richardson, and Will Levis.

What are the best (and worst) offensive lines in football?

Through the first 3 weeks of the season, the best offensive lines in football belong to the Detroit Lions, Indianapolis Colts, Baltimore Ravens, and Philadelphia Eagles.

The worst offensive lines in football belong to two teams dealing with a ton of injuries up front: the LA Rams and Cleveland Browns. Additional units that give us cause for concern are the Seahawks and Saints, who have really struggled in pass protection, but have done a decent job in the run game.

What are the best (and worst) defenses in football?

The best defense in the NFL through the first 3 weeks of the season is the Pittsburgh Steelers. They've been elite at all levels and lack the holes that plague other top defenses like Detroit (coverage) and Seattle (run defense).

The worst defenses in the NFL clearly belong to the Carolina Panthers, Washington Commanders, LA Rams, and Tennessee Titans. However, the Dallas Cowboys are close to dropping into this group and have allowed 29.7 PPG through 3 weeks.
