Whether playing season-long fantasy football or daily fantasy football, knowing when to dump an overperforming player or trade for an underperforming player is key. Two weeks into the NFL season is a great time to snipe talent from other teams in your league, knowing there are a handful of owners who are already in panic mode.
Here is the top fantasy player at each position that we are looking to either sell high or buy low on. For DFS players - start to consider building lineups around the buy low candidates as their fantasy salaries start to drop.
Coming off of two wins, Josh Allen and the Bills’ confidence is soaring. Allen is the QB6 after two weeks and has only turned the ball over once - something that needed cleaning up during this past offseason. Looking ahead, Buffalo plays Houston, Baltimore, and the Jets during the next four weeks which are defenses that will give Allen problems as they blanket the Bills new receiving core.
Miami with a banged-up Tua and Arizona with a poor secondary performance allowed for this offense to get churning early which won’t happen in these next few games. While Allen is still a top 10 QB, I’m predicting he doesn’t sit inside the top 5 after the midseason point.
Dobbins has gotten off to a fast start in his new uniform. The Chargers back has rushed for 266 yards (1st) and 2 scores (T-2) on the ground while LA is 2-0. Moving forward, his schedule of Pittsburgh and Kansas City before the bye week proves difficult and, with the injury concern always looming over JK’s head, flipping him at this point in the season for a solidified WR or TE would be a great move.
For example, Rashee Rice, Stefon Diggs, Tank Dell, or Trey McBride would be players I would target in exchange for Dobbins.
Nabers is coming off a game where he was targeted 18 - yes 18 times. With that being said, defenses are now aware Malik is the Giants' top option and as for the Washington secondary, they are probably the worst unit in all of football. Nabers has Cleveland, Dallas, and Seattle coming up which all look to be difficult matchups against the opposing corners.
While Nabers is a fine long-term play and dynasty target, his value will fluctuate throughout the season making him a tough player to start if he’s your WR1 or WR2. Marvin Harrison Jr. has Kyler while Nabers has Daniel Jones. I know who I would rather start on my squad.
The tight end landscape through two weeks (minus Pitts and Goedert) is extremely interesting. Only six players have scored over 20 total fantasy points (PPR) and two of the top options at the position - Sam LaPorta and Travis Kelce, have combined for just 20 total points.
This position has always been difficult to predict in fantasy, wait another two weeks before deciding to move on from a top tier tight end or play the week-to-week schedule game where you pick the player with the best matchup. As for Week 3, Mike Gesicki against the Washington defense is a great plug-and-play.
Stroud and Houston are coming off two extremely gritty wins against Chicago and Indy. Moving forward, the Vikings, Jaguars, and Bills defenses are going to struggle against the many weapons Houston has to throw at them with their trio of star receivers leading the way.
Offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik has utilized Dell, Diggs, and Collins in various positions and formations so far which will stump a younger and lower-tier defense. Look for CJ to start having a handful of 300-yard performances soon.
With or without Jordan Love, the Packers are going to heavily utilize Josh Jacobs in his contract year. Jacobs is tied for the league lead in rush attempts while sitting in 3rd for yards gained on the ground. With that being said, he hasn’t scored in a Packers uniform and won’t even sit inside the top 20 in PPR at the position after Week 2 concludes.
Facing Tennessee, Minnesota, Los Angeles, and Arizona during the next stretch of games, look for JJ to get more involved as a short-yardage receiver and find the paydirt when Green Bay gets into the red zone.
It will turn around. The early season woes for the Bengals and their offense continued on Sunday with a loss to Kansas City - one that could’ve easily been turned around into a win. Chase has struggled on and off the field, needing a new contract but not getting one, before only catching 10 balls for less than 100 yards during his first two performances of the year.
However, with Washington, Carolina, Baltimore, and the Giants on tap, look for Ja’Marr to sit inside the top 15 in PPR formats at the position after the six-game mark. Believe in Zac Taylor and Burrow to get him the football.
Kincaid has been one of those projected top tier tight ends to struggle this season, scoring less than 10 total fantasy points through two games. Moving ahead, look for Dalton to become Allen’s most targeted player as they attempt to move the ball vertically more than laterally.
The Bills lack of weapons will show up sooner rather than later and although 2-0 without using Kincaid much, that will have to change in order for this team to win games against high-powered offenses.
