In the first Monday Night Football game of the 2024 NFL season, the New York Jets travel to the west coast to take on the San Francisco 49ers. These are two teams entering this season with high expectations, making this one of the more anticipated week one matchups.
As is the case with any NFL game, particularly primetime games, there is no shortage of player prop options available across every sportsbook and DFS app.
Our team picked through every prop to identify our 5 best bets for Monday Night Football. We've got everything from our favorite anytime TD prop to a longshot prop with +1400 odds.
Over 22.0 Completions (+100 at DraftKings)
On Monday, Rodgers will play in his first game in just over a year against one of the toughest defenses in the NFL. While the 49ers are favorites with home field advantage and an offense full of weapons, the Jets could end up matching that with small and medium gains through the air via Aaron Rodgers, who’s bread and butter is picking apart defenses.
In his final season in Green Bay, Rodgers hit this mark in 5 of his first 7 games. With a receiving core of Breece Hall, Allen Lazard, Mike Williams, Tyler Conklin, and Garrett Wilson, this is the best AR prop of the night.
Anytime Touchdown (+130 at FanDuel)
Similar to Derrick Henry scoring a touchdown for the Ravens on TNF in the season opener, there’s a solid chance that most of the goal line touches go to Hall, who will get more goal line touches this season compared to 2023. Hall is also a breakaway threat on screens, short passes, or sweeps.
He ranked 3rd among RBs in 2023 in yards per route run - this number should rise with Rodgers who now has his best receiving back of his career. Ultimately, 20+ opportunities heading Hall’s way makes a great case to take this prop.
We gave this pick out in our 10 anytime TD picks article for week 1 at +125, but you can now find it at +130 at FanDuel Sportsbook.
Anytime Touchdown (+1400 at BetMGM)
Sleeper prop of Monday Night Football! Jacob Cowing is filling in for Ricky Pearsall early in the season and with Brandon Aiyuk just returning to form post-holdout, there’s a chance the Arizona Wildcat rookie gets some meaningful playing time in his first career game.
Cowing is a slot threat who scored 13 total TDs in his final season at U of A. The 49ers know how to draft wideouts and Cowing should become the next rising offensive weapon for Shanahan.
Under 41.5 Receiving Yards
After watching Mark Andrews and Travis Kelce struggle in their first game, Kittle’s prop for Week 1 looks a little daunting. As a focal point for the Jets defense that looks to be once again extremely strong in the middle, Kittle will need one big play to hit this mark - something Saleh and this defense will not allow.
Opposing tight ends in the Jets' last two opening games? 19 and 28 yards apiece. Let’s buy the Jets defense to limit Kittle in this one.
Longest Reception Over 22.5 Yards (-115 at DraftKings)
Nobody benefits from the return of Aaron Rodgers more than Garrett Wilson, and we think he will hit the ground running in this tough matchup with the 49ers defense.
Wilson recorded a reception of 22+ yards in 11 of 19 games with Zach Wilson, Trevor Siemian, and Tim Boyle at QB last season. He's a big play machine who should, with a competent QB, be able to reach his full NFL potential.
