By now, most fantasy football players are familiar with how Best Ball works, but for those who are new to the game, the concept is simple.
Best Ball is essentially season-long fantasy football, without in-season roster management. Owners draft their teams and hope for the best. DraftKings will set your best possible lineup after each week concludes.
This puts 100% of the focus on the draft, forcing you to manage your roster, identify sleepers, and plan for bye weeks as you are drafting your team.
Owners draft a roster of 20 player for every DraftKings Best Ball contest. Your weekly lineup will include 8 starters and 12 bench players. The roster structure for the starters is as follows:
1 QB
2 RB
3 WR
1 TE
1 FLEX (RB/WR/TE)
After the final game each week, DraftKings will set the best possible lineup for every team in your league and determine who won each matchup. As a team owner, all you need to do is check in on the app to view your results from the preceding week.
Note that DraftKings will limit the number of quarterbacks and tight ends each team can draft to 5 this season.
The DraftKings Best Ball scoring structure is exactly the same as what is used in daily contests. This is a fairly typical PPR scoring structure, with bonuses awarded for big games (300+ yards passing or 100+ yards rushing/receiving).
The payout structure for DraftKings' flagship Best Ball contest is considerably different from its traditional Best Ball leagues.
Your regular season record will determine whether or not you advance to round 2 of the tournament. If you advance, you are guaranteed to win at least $30.
If you win your Round 2 league (most points), you will advance to Round 3. Teams that advance to Round 3 are guaranteed to win at least $100.
If you win your Round 3 league, you advance to the championship (Round 4). In total, 1,021 teams will make it this far and each are guaranteed at least $1,000, with the top team winning $1,500,000.
