It’s the 101st season of the National Football League. The 2020 Season kicked off on September 10th with the defending Super Bowl LIV champion the Kansas City Chiefs defeating the Houston Texans 34-20. But the league looks very different this season — many of the games at the moment don’t have any fans in attendance there are protocols which we’ve never seen before. But the best players are still shining, and the best teams can still be expected to come out on top in the majority of games.
So who are the NFL picks courtesy of our friends at Online Betting Guide? The KC Chiefs are the hotly tipped favorites, largely due to Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, two of the players profiled here:
Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs
The star quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs, Patrick Mahomes led the Chiefs to Super Bowl LIV — their first Super Bowl appearance in 50 years, where they defeated the San Francisco 49ers for their very first Super Bowl victory since 1970. He was the second African American quarterback to win the Super Bowl Most Valuable Player award, and the youngest overall. The fifth-year option on his contract was picked up by the team on April 30 2020 and he signed a 10-year contract extension in July. With his success last season, and the team’s commitment to his future, it seems like all eyes will be on Mahomes this season.
Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens
The Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson was named the NFL’s MVP in his second season, leading the league in touchdown passes. Much like his counterpart in Mahomes, Jackson is a player that shakes up other teams. As one of the top quarterbacks in the league, he’ll be one of the favourites for winning the NFL this season.
Nicholas Bosa, San Francisco 49ers (injured)
Defensive end for the San Francisco 49ers, Nicholas Bosa was drafted second overall by the 49ers in the 2019 NFL Draft. He signed a 4-year deal with the 49ers worth 33.5 million on July 25 2019, making his NFL debut in Week 1 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers where he made 3 tackles and sacked heir quarterback. His rookie year he finished with nin sacks, a forced fumble, 47 tackles and two fumble recoveries. He also recorded a strip sack on Patrick Mahomes during the Super Bowl LIV against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Jamal Adams, Seattle Seahawks (injured)
Having played college football at LSU, Jamal Adams joined the Seattle Seahawks on July 25 2020 having been drafted sixth overall in the 2017 NFL Draft by the New York Jets. He’ll be watched by fans and competitors to see how he fares during the 2020 season.
Mike Evans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The wide receiver for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he was drafted by the team in the first round with the seventh overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. Since then he’s gone from strength to strength with the team, he was selected in 2019 to play as part of the 2020 Pro Bowl — the third one to attend in his career. He continues to be one of the favorites in the league and one of its key players.
Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills
Quarterback for the Buffalo Bills, in week one of the 2020 season against the New York Jets Allen has already had an incredible start, setting career highs in passing attempts, yards and completions after completing 33 of 46 passes for 312 yards. He also threw two touchdowns.
Travis Kelce, Kansas City Chiefs
American football tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, Travis Kelce was drafted by the eam back in 2013 and has played with them ever since. And he plans to stay onward with them having signed a contract extension recently. "We have great guys in the locker room, great people in the facility and overall it's just a fun atmosphere every single time you come to work," Kelce said. "Guys don't want to leave that. Guys want to keep building off of that.”
