BoopProps Super Bowl Homework: Part IX

Longest FG
Published on

There is a lot that goes into what you might think will be the length of the Longest Field Goal in a Super Bowl -- kickers, powerful offenses, coaching. For our purposes here, it is simple: See a trend? Run with it.

We could find 20 years worth of the Longest FG Made Prop and how the actual FG performance:

 <br>

We assume you see what we see: The Under coming in seven years in a row and in 10 of the last 11. Toss in the fact that the O/U has risen to 48.5 in SB LII and LIII (although we found a 45.5 floating around) and you got a pretty good trend.

For the record, the long FG in the 1998 Supe was 51 and the long in 1994 was 54. No other pre-1999 Super Bowl has seen a made field over 48 yards

Full disclosure: Eeach team’s kicker has a handful of FGs of over 48 yards this season, but the Super Bowl is a different animal, so while not totally tossing out that information, we kinda just left it on the side of the notepad.

Pick: Longest FG Under 48.5 ($13.50/-135)
