Pascua Yaqui Tribe Sets November 15 Opening Date for Casino Del Sol in Tucson City Limits

The Pascua Yaqui Tribe announced on June 11 that its newest gaming property, Casino Del Sol Vahi Taaʼam, will hold its grand opening on November 15, 2026. Located at 1055 W. Grant Road near Interstate 10, the property will become the first casino to open within the incorporated city limits of Tucson, Arizona — a significant milestone for the tribe and for the Southern Arizona gaming market.

The casino will operate under the Casino Del Sol brand, which the Pascua Yaqui Tribe owns and operates as an award-winning resort enterprise. Vahi Taaʼam, meaning “Three Suns” in the Yaqui language, will be the tribe’s third gaming property in Southern Arizona and is designed to reflect the tribe’s heritage and connection to the land in its architectural and cultural presentation.

What the New Casino Will Offer

Casino Del Sol Vahi Taaʼam will occupy a 163,000-square-foot facility featuring a 52,334-square-foot gaming floor. The property will house 924 slot machines, including 56 high-limit games, seven bar-top gaming stations, and a full table games section. A sportsbook with wagering on all major sports leagues is also included in the property’s plans.

On the food and beverage side, the casino will open two full restaurants, including the Old Pascua Grill, a 174-seat full-service dining venue. Three bars — the OP Grill Bar, Center Bar, and High Limit Bar — will round out the hospitality options at opening. The Pascua Yaqui Tribe estimates the property will create approximately 500 direct jobs once fully operational.

Tucson’s First In-City Casino

While the Pascua Yaqui Tribe has operated other gaming properties in the greater Tucson area, Vahi Taaʼam’s location at Grant Road and I-10 sits within Tucson’s municipal boundaries — a distinction the tribe has emphasized in announcing the opening. The site is located on tribal trust land associated with the Pascua Yaqui people’s Old Pascua community, which is within the city limits but recognized as sovereign tribal territory.

The property is positioned approximately three to four miles from Tucson’s downtown core, making it accessible to a broad urban and suburban customer base that the tribe’s existing properties at Casino Del Sol Resort did not reach as directly. Phase 2 of the Vahi Taaʼam development will include a hotel tower, conference center, and additional parking infrastructure, though no timeline for that expansion has been announced.

Arizona’s Growing Gaming Landscape

The opening adds to an already active period for casino development in Arizona. The state’s tribal gaming compacts have permitted a wide range of facility upgrades and expansions across the state’s 20-plus tribal gaming properties over the past several years. Arizona also has one of the more competitive regulated sports betting markets in the country, with tribal operators and major national books competing actively since the market launched in 2021. The addition of a Tucson city-limits casino with a sportsbook component could add meaningful market presence for tribal betting operations in Southern Arizona.

For gaming enthusiasts and sports bettors in the Tucson area, the November 15 opening represents the first major new casino destination to arrive in their market in years. Construction is expected to be completed in advance of the opening date, with the tribe expressing confidence in meeting the timeline it announced this month.
