We’re now past the halfway point in the College Football season, and it has been a crazy year thus far. Who would have predicted before the year started that Indiana would have been ranked higher than Alabama? If that doesn’t tell you about how wild this year has been, we don’t know what to tell you!
This weekend’s slate of games should add to the craziness, with several fantastic matchups going down, including the highly anticipated game between No. 3 Penn State and No. 4 Ohio State.
We’ve put our favorite player props together from Underdog, so let’s get into our favorites from what should be an exciting day of games!
Ohio State is playing exceptionally well this season, and Will Howard has certainly done his part to help them continue to be one of the best teams in the NCAA this year.
However, they face a staunch Penn State defense this weekend, a unit that allows the 12th-fewest passing yards of any defense in the country. This game could easily end with a final score of 14-10, or even 10-7, as we anticipate both defenses to hold up well.
Look for Penn State to lock Howard down, resulting in him throwing for less than 233 yards.
It’s not like us to hammer unders, but the Minnesota Golden Gophers have been menacing toward opposing quarterbacks all year. Their secondary is a top unit in the country, similar to Penn State.
They allow the ninth-fewest passing yards per game on the year, and Illinois’ Luke Altmyer has struggled this year in tough matchups. With that being said, we’re taking his under here- believing that Minnesota is going to lock him down, limiting him to a pedestrian outing.
They shut down Miller Moss of USC, and they could easily do the same thing to Altmyer, which is why we’re taking the under on his passing yardage line as well.
SMU takes on Pitt in the final game of the night on Saturday, and it’s supposed to be an awesome matchup. Not only are both teams ranked, but the winner of this game could experience a bump in their odds to make the College Football Playoff.
Kevin Jennings has put on a passing clinic for SMU all season, and he’s been on an especially hot run lately.
He’s thrown for at least 218 yards in four straight games, and we’re not about to fade him in this one. We’re taking Jennings’ over until he proves us wrong!
