Time for the college football picks. We’re coming off a good week, will try to keep it up. Because you’re usually only as whatever as your last bet, right?

Nebraska (-4.5) over Maryland

OK, this is more of an anti-Terp bet than the other way around. But I didn’t like a whole lot on the card this week and I had to give you something. The Cornhuskers have hurt me this year, I can’t lie. But the Terps have been an even bigger mess. I know they’re at home, but I’m going to give the visitors one more chance to show a little something. I’m just hoping Scott Frost can finally get his guys to show a little pride. I mean, a lot of people thought they would be pretty good this year. Let’s give them a mulligan. Again. Just hope I don’t regret it.

Kansas State (+2.5) over Texas Tech

I’m going with the road team here too. Maybe it’s me, but K-State has had its moments this year. And I think Texas Tech is just OK. Maybe that’s making it too simple, but sometimes that’s just how I try to approach it. And it can get me in trouble. But this time I think it makes sense. So I’ll take the points and see if the Wildcats can pull off a minor upset. You never know.

Three-team teaser

Cincinnati (-1.5) over Temple, with Washington State (-1.5) over Oregon State and Louisville (-1) over Syracuse

I’ve had some pretty good luck with these things lately. Just saying. I’ve taken the Owls a lot, even had them as underdogs a couple of times when they won outright, including last week. But Cincy could be the best team they’ve faced, especially out there. Washington State can drive you nuts, but the Cougs are at home coming off a good effort and I don’t think Oregon State is all that. I know Syracuse also came up with a big effort after being a major disappointment, but I think Louisville has shown some signs and should at least be able to get the W at its place.

Two-team teaser

Wake Forest (-1) over Duke and Baylor (pick-em) over Texas

If you want you could also make this a three-teamer and add Michigan at basically a pick em at Indiana and then be getting points with Wake and Baylor. I’m not sure Michigan will cover, especially with Ohio State up next, and Indy isn’t bad, as Penn State found out, but I think just getting a win is a realistic ask.

That’s pretty much my thinking with the first two. Wake got hammered at Clemson, but who doesn’t? I just think the Demons have enough to get past their rival. I guess we’ll find out. Same with Baylor. Really tough loss last week at home to Oklahoma. But the Bears can still get to the Big 12 title game. Texas has been good but not great. I know the Baylor quarterback situation is a little iffy, and it could go either way. They could not be recovered and lay an egg. But I’m guessing that Matt Rhule will find a way to get his guys up enough to get past a team they really would love to beat.

I’ll be back with the pro picks later in the week. So keep following.
