Yale Bulldogs at Columbia Lions, 2 pm Eastern
The Pick: Yale -13.5 (-104), bet $15.60 to win $15
Yale is 7-1 in the Ivy League while Columbia is 1-8. The Bulldogs need to keep winning to stay ahead of Penn and Princeton for the conference’s top spot; the Lions have no such concern. Yale is only 8-13 against the spread but at 3-7 ATS, Columbia doesn’t even protect the spread at home. I continue to think Yale isn’t that good but they do beat on teams they’re supposed to beat on. They only beat Columbia by 11 on Jan. 25, but they’ll win going away today.
Brown Bears at Cornell Big Red, 2 pm Eastern
The Pick: Cornell -1.5 (-108), bet $16.20 to win $15
As readers of this column remember, the last game between these two teams was, no hyperbole, the worse experience of my life. Brown played a horrendous first half, stormed back in the second, only to screw me - er, only to lose on a last-second follow-up. If I take away my slight subjectivity, what that game showed was that Cornell is a better team than I gave them credit for. Right now, they’re in the fourth spot in the Ivy League and would qualify for the conference tournament if it started today. They’re 7-3 in their last ten games and they’re at home today, where they’re 9-1. I like the Big Red’s discipline on offense, relying on tempo to break the opponent down. Brown have lost 9 of their last 12 games. These are two teams heading in different directions.
The Pick: Parlay Yale -13.5 w/Cornell -1.5 +277, bet $5 to win $13.89
The Pick: Teaser Yale -6.5 w/Cornell +5.5 -150, bet $30 to win $20
Dartmouth Big Green at Princeton Tigers, 4 pm Eastern
The Pick: Dartmouth +7.5 (-118), bet $11.80 to win $10
Princeton is the better team, but Dartmouth plays hard and has proven they can hang with the Tigers, losing only 84-80 three weeks ago. The Big Green’s six Ivy League losses have been by an average of only 6.3 points. They’re also 7-5 against the spread as an underdog on the road. They won’t lie down. The Tigers are only 4-6 ATS as a home favorite. Princeton is the better team, but I like Dartmouth more, to be honest.
The Pick: Parlay Yale -13.5 w/Cornell -1.5 w/Dartmouth +7.5 +597, bet $5 to win $29.90
