Virginia Commonwealth University Rams vs. Syracuse Orangemen, 5 pm Eastern
Boston University Terriers vs. Florida State Seminoles, 7 pm Eastern
The Pick: Teaser Syracuse +1.5 w/Florida State -10 (-132), bet $13.20 to win $10.14
Syracuse meets VCU in “the Battle 4 Atlantis” a “tournament” title I’ll ignore for now. The Orangemen are 48th in Ken Pomeroy’s rankings, while the Rams are 110th. Syracuse also just lost to Colgate, so I’m guessing they’ll be interested in replacing that memory. The 5.5 point spread frightens me a little, so I’ll tease ‘Cuse down to getting 1.5 points with Florida State, who are playing Boston University in the Jacksonville Classic but it’s a “campus game” which means it’s not in Jacksonville and my eyes are starting to bleed and it’ll be nice when these “tournaments” on Mars and in places that aren’t the usual places are over and “home” and “away” mean home and away again. Anyway, the Seminoles are playing at home and should have no trouble with Boston University, so I’ll spend a little to get a little, here…
Colgate Raiders at Harvard Crimson, 7 pm Eastern
Princeton Tigers at Monmouth Shadow, 7 pm Eastern
The Pick: Teaser Harvard +11 w/Princeton +5 (-138), bet $13.80 to win $10.04
Hey, speaking of Colgate! This tease factors what’s already a solid home dog in Harvard with a New Jersey matchup that the books feel is a toss-up but I feel is Princeton’s to seize. The Tigers are 54 spots higher than Monmouth in the KenPom rankings and have quality wins over power conference teams. Certainly, I feel Princeton can keep it close. Colgate is flirting with making the Top 100 teams in the nation, but they’ll be in Harvard’s gym and I feel they’re getting a little too much credit for beating Syracuse. Playing the Crimson is a natural spot for a letdown, so I like getting double-digit points there.
