NCAAB: ‘Eckel on the ACC’ picks between ‘Noles & ‘Canes

Neither squad has been good against the spread this season
Published on

Florida State (-3) at Miami, 6 p.m.
The pick: Under 145; Florida State -3

Sunday’s only ACC game features a rematch between the conference’s two Florida schools.

Just two-and-a-half weeks ago, Jan. 9, the ‘Noles (14-5) beat the ‘Canes (9-9), 68-62, at FSU.

After that win, Florida State lost three straight before ending its skid with a win over Clemson. Miami beat Wake Forest after the loss to the Seminoles, but has lost two straight since.

Neither squad has been good against the spread this season. Florida State is 7-11-1, while Miami is 6-12.

We’re leaning slightly toward a deeper and more balanced Florida State team, which received 41 points off the bench in the earlier win over Miami.

The better play in this one, however, is the under total of 145. Consider this quirky stat: The under is 10-1 in Florida State’s last 11 road games and is 12-3 in Miami’s last 15 home games.
