NCAAB: We follow our ’Cuse upset pick with a Providence upset pick
Seton Hall + 1.5 @ Providence 6:30 pm
Pick: Providence - 1.5
When we talk about the Big East. The first teams that come to mind are Villanova, Butler and Marquette. However, tonight’s spotlight is on the middle of the pack, where we have two teams that know each other well -- the Seton Hall Pirates and the Providence Friars.
The Pirates were on a nine-game winning streak until last Saturday when they lost by 21 Marquette. Junior Miles Powell leads the Pirates at 22.6 PPG while Sandro Mamukelashvii has been cleaning up the boards averaging 7 RPG. Coach Kevin Willard has led a balanced Pirate team as they’re currently ranked in the middle of nation in both offense (75 PPG) and defense (70 PPG).
The Friars are coming off a loss to Georgetown which went into double OT. Junior Alpha Diallo has been one of the more underrated players in the Big East and is leading the Friars in all offensive categories -- 17.4 PPG, 8.8 RPG, and 3 APG. Coach Ed Cooley similarly has led the Friars to be a balanced team on both offense (75 PPG) and defense (69 PPG).
The Pirates have been 8-9-0 ATS this season and are looking to stay in contention in the Big East. The Friars are 7-9-0 ATS on the season and are looking for their first win in conference in play.
Seton Hall has been the more impressive team thus far taking down some powerhouses in Kentucky and Xavier. However, I think the Friars will get the job done in a close one at home tonight and get that W.
