The Pick: Memphis +4.5 (-110), bet $11 to win $10
Yesterday, Memphis learned that star Ja Morant has a bone bruise on his knee and won’t return for the rest of the playoffs. Now, I don’t think that’s going to be too much of an issue, as I don’t see the Grizzlies winning three straight against Golden State. But I do think the news will provide enough motivation to Memphis that they’ll give it their all tonight. In Game 4, they led until there was less than a minute to go, and this game they’ll be in front of their home fans. All year, Memphis has played with heart and energy, even when they were without Morant (now 20-5). Deep down, the Warriors know they have three games to close out this series, so I think it’ll be at least one game before they’re able to drop the hammer. The half-point making it 4.5 instead of 4 seals the deal for the home dog, for me.
