New Orleans Pelicans at Atlanta Hawks, 6 pm Eastern
The Pick: Atlanta -165, bet $33 to win $20; Atlanta -3.5 (-110), bet $11 to win $10
Atlanta has had a sobering season coming off of last year’s success, but they’re still in the playoff hunt. The Hawks hold the tenth and last spot in the Eastern Conference, just a half-game behind Charlotte for the ninth spot. The ninth spot would host the tenth spot in the first play-in game. I suspect Atlanta would like to host that game, in part because of how well they’re playing at home right now. They’ve won seven games in a row in Atlanta, and are a solid 23-13 at home overall (19-17). With only twelve games left in the regular season, every game matters to the Hawks. Star Trae Young is listed as day-to-day but I suspect given the circumstances, he’ll play. New Orleans is in the same situation - tenth-seed in the West, a half-game out of ninth spot. The difference is, their superstar Brandom Ingram is out with a hamstring injury. I think the Hawks hold serve on their court.
