Cleveland Cavaliers at Atlanta Hawks, 7:30 pm Eastern

The Pick: Atlanta +1.5 (-110), bet $16.50 to win $15

After a rocky start to the season, Atlanta has been making a run, winning their last five of seven games at home. It’s similar to last season when the Hawks found their stride as the year went on before making a deep run into the playoffs. The Cavaliers are the better team but have split their two games with the Hawks so far this year, and Atlanta has scored an average of 10.9 more points per game. This is the Cavaliers’ last game before the All-Star Break, but the Hawks play Orlando tomorrow night. They’ll be putting it all out on the floor tonight.

Dallas Mavericks at Miami Heat, 7:30 pm Eastern

The Pick: Miami -3.5 (-110), bet $22 to win $20; Miami -158, bet $20 to win $12.66

Miami’s the top team in the Eastern Conference, have won five games in a row, and returned home on Saturday to beat the depleted Brooklyn Nets. They’re 19-6 at home and 33-24 against the spread this season. Dallas’ margin of defeat on the road has been -6.5, a full two points below the average spread. The Mavericks’ Luka Doncic is filling the hoop with 27.2 points per game, which will only motivate Heat forward Jimmy Butler. I think the Heat can smell a special season happening, which means taking care of business at home.

Memphis Grizzlies at New Orleans Pelicans, 8 pm Eastern

The Pick: Memphis -4 (-110), bet $16.50 to win $15; Memphis -165, bet $20 to win $12.20

New Orleans did a solid job laying the smack-down to Toronto last night, which means two things. First, it means they’re playing back-to-back, and they lose by an average of 7.7 with no rest. Second, it means that Memphis saw them win last night and will be getting after it tonight, because the Grizzlies always get after it (21-11 against the spread as a favorite, and 12-5 ATS with a margin of victory of 11.6 points when they have a rest advantage). Now, Ja Morant is day-to-day with an ankle injury, but I won't be surprised if he plays, and even if he doesn’t I expect the rest of the Grizzlies to step up in his absence. Memphis lost their last game to New Orleans on Nov. 13, and the Grizzlies remember those things.

Los Angeles Clippers at Phoenix Suns, 10 pm Eastern

The Pick: Phoenix -13 (-110), bet $22 to win $20

Los Angeles handled Golden State last night but there’s no break for them. They go the road for a back-to-back to face another top NBA team. The Clippers are 3-6 against the spread with no rest, while the Suns are 32-24 against the spread overall. They’ve won 16 of 17, and this game is on national television. Los Angeles has too many injuries to too many important players to be able to string two great performances against top squads on consecutive nights.
