Memphis Grizzlies at Orlando Magic, 5 pm Eastern

Phoenix Suns at Washington Wizards, 7 pm Eastern

The Pick: Teaser Memphis -1 w/Phoenix -2 (-138), bet $20.62 to win $15

I’ve been trying to make my plays less complicated lately, but today I’m gonna pair Memphis and Phoenix, two top NBA teams who are on the road, in a teaser to lower their spreads. The Grizzlies may be without Ja Morant tonight; Morant is listed as questionable with a foot injury. But his team is on a roll this season, 17-9 on the road and 18-8 against the spread on the road. Orlando has lost 14 of 18 of its last games at home and surely is already in tanking mode. Memphis should be able to handle the disappointing Magic even without Morant. Phoenix plays a Washington team without its star Bradley Beal, who is suffering from a sprained wrist. More importantly, the Suns are coming off a loss to Atlanta on national television on Thursday night, which surely will motivate them as much as it screwed me. I see both Memphis and Phoenix winning comfortably, but I’ll tease them so as not to worry about laying eight or so points in each game.

Miami Heat at Charlotte Hornets, 7 pm Eastern

The Pick: Miami -143, bet $21.43 to win $15

Charlotte dropped a tough one to Cleveland last night, and tonight have to turn right around and play a Miami team that’s fighting for the top seed in the Eastern Conference. That’s a tough ask. The Heat beat the Hornets in their other matchup this year, 114-99 on Oct. 29. Miami is 6-1 in their last seven as favorites, while Charlotte has dropped three of five home games. Combine the “back-to-back games” factor for the Hornets with Jimmy Butler getting stronger as he gets healthier for the Heat, and you’ve got a recipe for a Miami win. I’ll pay a little extra for a straight win.

Milwaukee Bucks at Portland Trail Blazers, 10 pm Eastern

The Pick: Portland +10.5 (-110), bet $22 to win $20

Look, I’m not arguing anything other than 10.5 points is a lot to be getting in your own gym. Portland has been in disarray all year, but defending champs Milwaukee has been a bit up-and-down themselves. The Bucks are only 6-4 in their last ten games. They’ve also lost four games in a row on the road and are 5-10 against the spread in their last 15 games overall. The Trail Blazers have lost four in a row but getting double-digit points at home and losing last night to doormat Oklahoma City has to be motivating to some degree. I think Milwaukee wins but it’s a cover for Portland.
