In last night's NBA split personality games, the Knicks beat Indiana on the road and RJ Barrett caressed the nets, instead of denting the rims. The Cavs went to ATL and held the high-flying Hawks to 91 points, leading me to wonder how bad is the Nets' defense really is. The Pelicans beat the Raptors for the first time in forever. I split my bets for the second night in a row.
Today, I'm trying something different with a trio of parlays. If the league is going to be nuts, I may as well take some chances with higher payoffs. The loss is the same either way.
Payoffs based on $10 wagers.
3-pointer: Celtics -8.5 and Under 213.5 +265 (returns $36.50)
2-pointer: Blazers -5.5 and Over 235 +260 (returns $36.00)
Free throw: Nets win and Over 241.5 +143 (returns $24.30)
Steal: Thomas Bryant (Wizards) Over 22.5 points, rebounds, assists -117 (returns $18.60)
Winners:
Free throw: Kyle Lowry (Raptors) Over 29.5 points, rebounds, assists -118 (returns $18.50) Lowry was only 3-11 from three, but 6 boards and 8 assists got him to 30 PRA.
Steal: Brandon Ingram (Pelicans) Over 32.5 points, rebounds, assists -120 (returns $18.40) Ingram easily made the number with 31 points, 6 boards and 4 assists.
Losers:
3-pointer: John Wall (Rockets) double-double +225 (returns $32.50) Probably would have voided this bet if I knew before game time that Harden was out. Wall was terrific (28 points, 6 assists) in the Rockets win. Harden's presence may have removed some of his points but may have gotten him the extra assists. Oh well.
2-pointer: Pascal Siakam (Raptors) Over 30.5 points, rebounds, assists -110 (returns $19.10) Siakam's struggles continued with 0-4 from three and 6 fouls in only 24 minutes of action.
$40 wagered (2-2), $36.90 returned.
Day 10: -$3.10
Total: -$90.85 (20-29 off 49 $10 wagers)
